Other mistake: The entire movie takes place during the overnight dark hours. Limited lighting from the car and flashlight somehow manage to illuminate faces, photos, signs, etc. Filming in the dark surely has its challenges, and there has to be a proper balance between lighting and ability of viewers to see what is happening. The "convenient" lighting would be a "deliberate mistake" except for one factor: A full moon (highly illuminated) is shown without radiating the light expected from a full moon. (00:26:25)
Factual error: The film consistently mistakes Absinthe ban with Thujone ban. The United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) lifted the ban on Absinthe in 2007, 13 years before the events of this film. Thujone is still banned, and Absinthe products must contain less than 10 mg/kg Thujone content.
Continuity mistake: Theodore rides once the tiny rollercoaster; the cart comes to a full stop and his left foot is in the space between the bars, but in the next shot the left foot is on the outside. (00:48:00)

Continuity mistake: When the Homeland Security guy is sitting in the lobby in Vancouver, Canada, a girl and another man are walking behind him and across the lobby in the wide shot. But when it zooms in on him, the same people and more are walking behind him again as if they never were crossing the lobby. (00:28:45)
Continuity mistake: Early in the film when Jake gets in his car to head off to pick up his son, his seatbelt is on although there is no sight of him putting it on, then, as he pulls away the seatbelt is off.
Continuity mistake: When Johanna and the Captain are being chased by Mr Almay and his associates, their position in the wagon changes. First Johanna is on the Captain's left. Next shot she is on his right. Next shot she is back on his left. (00:42:14)
Deliberate mistake: In the Spanish release, the name of the family store is written in Spanish, but inside the place it's in English everywhere. This is a very common mistake in foreign kids' films released in Spain.
Revealing mistake: When the black cat was going up the staircase and got to the first landing, it turned its head to look directly at the camera, then continued climbing the staircase. (00:08:13)
Continuity mistake: While on-stage addressing the crowd at the Apple Festival, Vivian's long hair is in various positions. On her left side, a long section is in front of her initially, then in back. On her right side, her hair is either distinctly split (some in front, some in back) or flows around her shoulder/side. (00:09:43)
Continuity mistake: First argument. Leilani shouts "Why are you being so loud right now?", with a hand behind her neck. She does not start the next shot in that position, she puts her hand there only a second later. (00:04:05)
Factual error: Rich told Jamie, "There was a car accident. Guy came in. I cut when I should've stitched or stitched when I should've cut. I don't even know. His family sued in civil court, and I lost everything." A doctor working at a hospital would have been required to carry malpractice insurance, which would have protected him from "losing everything." Amanda tells part of the Empty Man story and the ashes on the tip of her cigarette are the same when she takes a second puff. Other mistake: When Lomito was holding the little green ball with the smiley face on it, her flashlight was shining on her fingers/fingernails - all of which were long and manicured. The length of her fake fingernails - even if they did not exceed the department's policy on maximum length, such as one-fourth inch past the fingertip - probably were long enough to interfere with her ability to quickly put her finger on her pistol's trigger and shoot; the length interfered with her ability to perform her duties. Continuity mistake: In the first shot of the choir (three students harmonizing on a note) the girl in pink holds the sheet with her left hand at the corner and the right hand in the middle. Revealing mistake: The candles on the long dinner table are numerous and clustered, but linear in front views of people seated at the table. Based on how the candles are disorderly arranged, it would not be possible to show a couple or few candles spaced apart in front of one person. (00:05:35)
Continuity mistake: There are only two missing pieces to complete the jigsaw puzzle, and the perimeter/frame is intact. After the pastor turns the puzzle around to face Eden, there are four pieces missing, three of which are perimeter pieces. (00:04:38)
