Factual error: The Iowa is sailing with a depleted crew, one that most likely has no experienced gunner's mates. The 16-inch turret requires a 79-man crew to operate it, and can fire a salvo every 30 seconds. Despite these handicaps, the minimal crew in the movie was firing salvos every few seconds.
Factual error: The film opens with a quote; "War has rules, mud wrestling has rules...politics has no rules - Ross Perot, presidential candidate 1988." Perot was a presidential candidate in 1992 and 1996, and 1988 can't refer just to the sentence either, because that quote is from 1996 as well. (00:00:40)
Factual error: When the underground garage of the market is flooded, the car that Kyle and Heather are in does not flood. A car is not water tight like a submarine. Even though the water does not cover the top of the car, water would flood the entire car within minutes.
Factual error: Kuklinski is looking at a newspaper which is dated January 3rd 1983, and the text reads that Roy DeMeo was found dead the previous day. In actuality, Roy DeMeo died on January 10th 1983. (01:22:55)
Factual error: Bruce Willis says he has a 'Remington 86 tactical shotgun'. There is no such model, he probably meant the 870.
Factual error: Dolphins wouldn't die or choke if their breathing hole is blocked. They can breath via their mouths. (00:57:00)
Factual error: Whenever Charlie, Patrick, and Sam go through the tunnel into the city, you can see "Consol Center" on the road sign. The Pittsburgh Consol Center was built in 2008, but this movie's set in the 90s.
Factual error: When Dave shoots Justin 8 times, he empties the magazine of his semi-auto handgun, but he continues pulling the trigger, and the gun clicks several times. Semi-auto handguns do not "click" when they are empty, because it's impossible to pull the trigger. Also, the slide of Dave's handgun does not lock in the open position when the magazine is empty, as it should.
Factual error: The Logans flee into a parking garage, where Ben breaks a van window to access the hood release...then, upon opening the hood, he immediately rubs two wires together to start and run the vehicle. This is physically impossible, although often depicted in films. The starting circuit for an automobile is completely separate from the ignition circuit. (00:39:35)
Factual error: We see the mob boss at the start shoot a man from inside the SUV with a shotgun. However, the windscreen doesn't get affected in any way. A shotgun blast in a confined space has a spray and would have hit the glass. (00:02:30)
Factual error: When Bradley Cooper is leaving the Police Station in the 1990's, he is being watched by Ray Liotta by the street. You can see a silver 2010 Hyundai Sonata drive right past them, a model that doesn't get built for another decade. There's also a GMC cargo van parked across the street that looks like it was built after 2009. (01:23:20)
Factual error: Close up, very detailed footage of a Cobra citizens band radio is used for the scenes where dispatch radio traffic is coming over the police radio. Police dispatch does not, nor has it ever, used the Citizen's Band radio service. (00:11:25)
Factual error: In the scene where Robert Redford is hiding in his car in dealer's lot, the FBI say they have him tracked and located, "Got him. Just off I-94 near Gurnee, IL." Redford may be in Gurnee, but the local police speeding to catch him are not: The area around Gurnee is flat as a pancake, yet the police drive by many tall hills and/or small mountains. (01:09:00)
Factual error: The poster displayed in Sally's room is not from 1974. It shows a series that was released in 1997.
Factual error: The same car registration is used on several cars throughout the film.
Factual error: Throughout the film Stephen Dorff talks to the other agent on the CB. CBs have no way to receive while transmitting, yet the two men overlap each other's conversations.
Factual error: At one point in the film, Katniss passes out after being stung by wasps numerous times. When she asks how long it had been upon awakening, Rue answers, "A couple of days." If she had been out that long, and as a result been unable to drink, she would be in very bad condition, not to mention the fact that she would immediately need to use the bathroom.
Suggested correction: You can help an unconscious person stay hydrated by gently pouring small amounts of water into their mouth. They'll swallow it by reflex.
Factual error: The movie changes between a basketball season and a playoff basketball game then to a baseball game being played in what looks like early summer...back to a team getting ready for the basketball playoffs. The two seasons don't overlap.
