Factual error: In the climax of the movie, Nicholas Cage uses a nail gun like a marksman, hitting with precision the bad guy that holds his wife tight. Besides this skill of his coming out of left field, a nail gun does needs a surface against the opening. It does not shoot nails in the air without pressure being applied, it's a Hollywood trope. Factual error: The movie takes place in Stamford Connecticut (per locations and is shown on cop cars). Eva buys a bottle of wine in a supermarket, but in CT only beer can be purchased in a supermarket. (00:25:15)
Factual error: Immediately after Eddie surfaces following his dive, he rests with his head well above the water. Had he actually been in water deep enough for the dive, he would have floated with his chin about even with the surface.
Factual error: In Sam's premonition, when Isaac is still in the bus when it is falling down to the water, he is at the front of the bus. In reality the falling force should be pushing him to the back of the bus.
Factual error: During the pre-credits sequence, when the Driver is attempting to escape the police, the sound of the engine accelerates with the rhythm of a manual transmission while the model on the screen has an automatic transmission.
Factual error: The wolves in this movie must be some sort of mutant super wolf. North American Grey wolves are not lion sized killing machines. They are typically smaller, by weight, than an average German Shepherd.
Factual error: In the last scene the ICE Train is leaving the station eastbound. It is not possible to enter these trains at the central station because all eastbound trains end in Berlin and have only one station left (Berlin Ostbahnhof). Every ICE leaving Berlin is going in the other (westbound) direction.
Factual error: The character Peter has a modern haircut that would not have been found during medieval Europe; his hair defying gravity despite being a time without hair gel.
Factual error: In the film Hanna talks about there being 8 planets. the film also suggests that Hanna and her father have been living in the forest for her whole life of 16 years and her only knowledge coming from books. it was 1996 when the government had any traces of Hanna's father, so that makes the film set in 2011/12. so if she has only ever got her information from books published before she was born, she would still think there are 9 planets, because Pluto wasn't officially named a dwarf planet until 2006. Factual error: During the end where the girl gets her phone back she has a text. However inside a submarine with the hatch shut there is no way for a mobile signal to get through.
Factual error: When they are in paradise the law enforcement is all wrong from the uniforms to the cars. In the State of Ohio, every county Sheriff Department looks the same (black and gold cars, black uniform shirt, grey pants, stetson style hat), they are all regulated by the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association. In the movie the "local sheriff" wears a brown uniform and drives a car with white doors. This is not accurate. The front and back of the car is accurate with the gold stripes, and the license plates on the cars are also accurate, but those are the only parts of the cars/uniforms true to the state of Ohio.
Factual error: Mallory tells Florence that the school is in Cumbria. Cumbria didn't exist in 1921. It was created in 1974 from Cumberland, Westmorland and part of Lancashire.
Factual error: Colonel Meyer's promotions are listed in his SS ID card as Hauptmann, Oberstleutnant and Oberst. Since the SS used a different ranking system from the Wehrmacht, they should actually be Hauptsturmführer, Obersturmbannführer and Standartenführer.
Factual error: The young priest sees images of a red-eyed horse, but later, it is referred to as a mule, which looks much more like a donkey.
Factual error: Spoiler alert - When Henry's body is recovered under the 4th Street Bridge in Los Angeles, the 6th street bridge and the 7th street bridge (the one that he fell off) are each visible in the background. Meanwhile the water is visible moving towards the 7th street bridge which indicates that his corpse floated against the current. (00:22:20)
Factual error: Josh abseils forwards into the cave and in the next shot is seen coming alongside Victoria, in the standard seated abseil position. This would not have been possible, due to the design of his harness, without moving his abseil device from his back to his front. This would have involved him removing the device completely and then re-attaching it to the front of his harness which would be impossible during descent. (00:15:20)
Factual error: Early on the in the movie the period is set in 1960. Danny Green is in a bar with his co-workers drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon beer where a UPC code is visible on one of the bottles. UPC weren't put to use until 1974-1975.
