Continuity mistake: When Colm Meaney and Colin Farrell have the shoot-out right at the end, the material filmed changes between then and when the director is viewing it at the end. First, Farrell shoots Meaney, then the camera goes to white and two more gun-shots go off. Then, when he is watching it later, Farrell pulls the gun from his pocket and the director shoots him straight away. Then when he rewinds it, it shows Colin Farrell pull his gun, the camera man look to the bonnett of the car where the gun is, then bring it up and shoot him.
Other mistake: Marian asks Winthrop to go pick up a book called "The Indiana State Educational Journal 1901-1910". When we see her reading the book, it actually says "The Indiana State Educational Journal 1890-1910". (01:08:25 - 01:13:50)
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Halley just left from her counselor's office, Macon was going to go after her but the counselor stopped him. Then he was doing something with his hands and he had a pen. In the next shot, he sort of taps the wall, and the pen is gone.
Continuity mistake: When Third hugs the Hawaiian girl on the boat at the start, the second shot of them they aren't hugging, but then they are again.
Visible crew/equipment: When Ben is in the fish and chip shop and is calling Judith Lucy, when the camera pans by one of the chip heaters, a boom mic is visible bobbing around on the reflection of the glass at the top just below the silver bar. (01:05:25)
Visible crew/equipment: At the end of the movie, when Hamo and Nina head off on the piano, watch the shadows on the ground to the right. You can see that a person is pulling the piano to make it appear that it is travelling on its own.
Continuity mistake: After they have sex for the first time, Adam and Evelyn are on the floor and she tells him to smile into the camera that was filming them making love. The camera however, is pointed right at them on the floor, not on the bed where the scene started and they had the actual sex. (00:32:20)
Visible crew/equipment: When My-ek and Du-ug are bowing to the cow before attempting to behead it, you can see a crewmember's hand in the bottom left corner of the screen, holding some sort of strap around the cow's legs (probably to keep it standing still).
Revealing mistake: When the Bodyguard attacks the rival gang, he stabs one of the torch carriers, to which we get a close-up of. As the blade goes in, blood comes out - when the Bodyguard removes his blade, there is no stab wound, not even in the torch carriers clothes.
Other mistake: There are no wires going to the phone booths in the town of Cheerful. (00:18:00)
Continuity mistake: In the nightclub where Marci and her girlfriends do the diversity dance, Marci starts by taking a white fur that she's wearing off of her shoulders and wrapping it around her head. Then there is a cutaway to another person. When we cut back to Marci, not only is the fur on her head no longer there, but we can see an extra in the background wearing it over her shoulders.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, when the Hebrew Hammer is using his Jewish guilt on Santa, Santa is holding his gun. When the shot cuts to behind Santa, he waves his hands in the air and both hands are empty. When the shot cuts back, he's holding the gun again.
Continuity mistake: At one point about halfway through the movie, Jerry Falk sits down in his apartment to translate his thoughts onto his laptop, sort of a mini diary, and the closeup shot of the notebook monitor shows he has typed up over 3 lines worth of text (at 18-point font size setting, no less). Then the next wider shot that includes the laptop screen shows he hasn't finished even the third line; not only that, the text is now in more typical (smaller) font size.
Revealing mistake: The movie takes place over the course of several years, as large segments of time pass between scenes of Will and Jane meeting at the airport, and other encounters. Thus, it is rather jarring to notice that their twelve year old children, Ben and Claire, don't appear to age at all. Young adolescents usually change in appearance quite drastically as they mature.
Continuity mistake: When the monster truck rams the back of Adam's car the shot immediately after shows no damage at all to the back of the car. This happens in several scenes throughout the film until the car is eventually destroyed. (00:11:50)
Continuity mistake: Near the end of the film when Ray and Hilda are having a conversation, Ray's white undershirt alternates between being seen and being hidden under his shirt (on his shoulder).
Continuity mistake: In a party scene about 45 minutes into the movie there are numerous shots of the crowd. Over a several minute period one character was shown in at least four shots while smoking a cigarette in a cigarette holder. In all shots the partially smoked cigarette is the exact same length. Either they kept using the same clip or the cigarette was not lit.
Revealing mistake: Although the film is supposed to take place in New England, and there are constant references to how "Americans" do things, all of the license plates are from British Columbia.
Revealing mistake: When Frank yells stop to Marion, you can see the marks on the road from a previous take. (01:05:20)
Other mistake: Daniel was number six that she dated and treated as a boyfriend before Peter, so In reality Peter was number seven.
