Plot hole: Anderton's wife gains entry into the jailhouse using her husband's eyeball - but he's already locked up inside, so his eye would not still have access to enter as it pleased. Any place anywhere that would have any sort of security system requiring anything from a simple passcode to a card key to a retinal scan, would immediately delete the user in such instances from all rights. And would also certainly report on any attempted use of such (retinal scan, pass code, whatever). (02:00:45)
Plot hole: In the pre-title sequence, James Bond travels in a hovercraft along the dirt road, which is full of landmines. Soon after reaching the waterfall at the end, trucks drive up along the road he just drove in on to capture him. As there was only one road into the waterfall complex, the landmines must have all disappeared, as earlier on in that sequence, we are informed that the only way that the North Koreans can avoid the mines along that road is by hovercraft. Plot hole: When Frank Martin steals the Mercedes, how does Lai manage to open the rear door, get in the back and hide - all with her hands bound behind an office chair? Not to mention actually closing the door and hiding herself (and the chair) in the rear footwell long enough for Frank to drive off and not notice her until they are out on the road. (00:29:25)
Plot hole: In Paris, why does the assassin go to the ridiculous amount of trouble of swinging into the room on a rope with a machine gun when he came in from the lobby (as proved by the dead woman downstairs)? Alternatively, if his intention was always to surprise Bourne by coming in through the window, why venture downstairs at all? (00:44:07)
Plot hole: When the first security guard, who stayed back to get something to eat, hears something in the laundry room, he walks over to the washing machine where he finds the head of the other security guard inside. He turns around screaming and trips over the security guard's body on the ground with no head. Wouldn't he notice the dead body on the ground when he first entered the room?
Plot hole: When Ben Affleck is meeting with the man who changes Samuel Jackson's credit record, the man remarks that Samuel Jackson should not have told Ben Affleck that he was in insurance. Samuel Jackson never told Ben Affleck that he was in insurance.
Plot hole: When the President of the United States attends a public gathering (such as the SuperBowl) the level of security is extremely high. So why wasn't Mason's delivery on the day of the game checked for explosive devices?
Plot hole: The dead young girl who wears white has hemophilia (uncontrollable bleeding), and her mother states that she's scared of all sharp metal objects (scissors, etc.), yet she goes to play in an old abandoned steel mill all the time.
Plot hole: At the end, there is an explosion large enough to destroy and sink an entire ocean liner, but Julianna Margulies, who was sitting right next to where the explosion went off, not only lives, but is virtually unscathed? Yeah, right. (01:19:00 - 01:20:35)
Plot hole: The Americans allegedly landed at Manchester on their way to kill the male Dragon in London. London is due south of Manchester. Why then did they head in the complete opposite direction to Northumberland?
Plot hole: When Eldon checks out the address Van Meter gave him he finds where Orchard and Sidwell are living. All well and good, except: A) The utilities bill is in the names of Orchard and Sidwell, who are known wanted felons in L.A. and B) even more implausibly, the bill is in BOTH their names.
Plot hole: During the boxing match where Eddie Murphy is wearing the special contact lenses, he sees that Owen Wilson's life is in danger. So much so, that he rushes out of the ring instead of doing his usual grand-standing. But when he shows up at the tower to rescue Owen, he has on pants and a shirt. I guess he figured Owen could hold out long enough for him to get dressed?
Plot hole: When Xander is driving onto the bridge, chased by the police cars, we see that there are police cars also blocking the end of the bridge to stop him getting away. How come none of them noticed the ruddy great ramp sitting alone in the middle of the bridge and moved it? It wouldn't take a genius to work out what he might do.
Plot hole: When Edward meets with his PI, he hands him pictures of Connie and Paul that were taken the day before. In these pictures, there are also pictures of her coming out of Paul's apartment wearing jeans and a raincoat. The day Edward "went" to Chicago, was the same day she and Paul went to the movies. The next day, when Edward met with his PI to get the info, she hadn't seen Paul yet. And the day Edward hired the PI to follow his wife, she had already come and gone from Paul's wearing another black dress. The PI would only have time to see them on the day of the movie trip.
Plot hole: The psycho coed murders her lecherous professor (played by William Shatner) by pushing him out a window. In the very next scene, she's driving around with his body propped up in the passenger seat of her car. She weighed no more than 100 lbs., tops, and Shatner was easily at least 250 when this film was made. No way she could have dragged him to her car and lifted his dead weight into the seat, no matter how much adrenalin she was pumped with. Physically impossible.
Plot hole: Since when do highly trained, professional police/SWAT operatives run lemming-like at perpetrators in an armoured assault vehicle with an M-60 in it? This wouldn't happen.
Plot hole: In the final scene of the movie, right after the big car pileup, it appears that everybody but the main characters disappear. Wouldn't you think that with such a major car pileup, there would be at least a few people outside their car wondering what was going on?
Suggested correction: I thought that this was a mistake as soon as I saw it on screen, but reconsidered. It's perfectly possible that there was some, probably human caused, delay in updating the security system. After all, there wasn't a rush to do it since they already had the chief on ice. Maybe the sleep jail was still on a legacy system without automatic updating. Just assuming that in the near future that all systems are all perfectly integrated and instantaneous does not validate this as a mistake.
