Trivia: The date for the newspaper Professor Utonium and Hobo Jojo read is Wednesday, July 3, 2002. That's the day the movie was released into theaters.
Trivia: Ben Affleck is the third actor to play Jack Ryan. His predecessors are Harrison Ford (Clear & Present Danger, Patriot Games) and Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October).
Trivia: Did anyone else pick up the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom rip-off/reference? When Mathyus is in the harem of Lord Memnon and the archers come in, he cuts the gong off the wall and runs behind it as a shield, while the guards shoot at it in vain. He then busts out the window and jumps out of it.
Trivia: At the end of the movie, when Mrs. Watchitt is standing in the doorway, there is a picture of H.G. Wells hanging on the wall behind her.
Trivia: When Undercover Brother is introduced to B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D, he is told about the Man's conspiracy. In response, he says "So Hollywood really is out to get Spike Lee?" Spike Lee is the cousin of this movie's director, Malcolm Lee.
Trivia: Rollerball is referred to as "sports entertainment," which is the current euphemism for professional wrestling.
Trivia: The photos of car owners on the inspector's computer are that of the crew.
Trivia: This is one weird "mistake". The scene where Nick and Tess are arrested after a carchase (so many cops after a hacker?) is, yeah you're not going to believe it, completely ripped from another movie called Set it Off (1996, good movie). Not LIKE "Set it Off" but it IS "Set it Off". Everything from when the helicopter finds them until dead-end capture, except inside shots of course. Watch every crash, turn, intersection. If you look closely you can see that they even used the shots where 3 characters from "Set it Off" are visible. The movies are made by different companies (Set it Off - New Line Cinema, Storm Watch - Cinetel Films), so is this allowed? And by the way whose lowrider is this anyway (except Cleo from "Set it Off")? Later in the movie Tess drives a green jeep and Nick is a convicted poor hacker. If anyone knows something feel free to correct. (00:42:18)
Trivia: The bad guy in this movie was a bottled-water magnate. This was Dreamworks' dig at Vivendi, the French water bottler that also owned Universal Studios, Dreamworks' rival.
Trivia: In the scene where Wells asks Cooper to knock him out, Kevin McKidd throws a stage punch the first time, but misjudges the distance of the second and catches Sean Pertwee on the nose. Pertwee didn't feel the punch however as he really was drunk for that scene. This is all talked through on the DVD.
Trivia: Prior to the release of this film, Johnny Knoxville was reported to be, by an American tabloid, "so dishevelled" by a boy who died reconstructing "Big Wheel Craze" that he refused to make the movie or any more episodes of "Jackass." Two weeks later, the ad for the film was shown in the exact same spot in the paper.
Trivia: There were no scripts used in this movie, whatever Steve and Terri said was off the top of their heads. All stunts were performed, just like the TV show, by Steve himself.
Trivia: If a tarantula were to ever grow to the gargantuan size that it does in this film, it would resemble a huge furball. The filmmakers were aware of this, but for obvious reasons decided to tone down the amount of hair. (00:56:35)
Trivia: In the fight scene between Christian and Matthew, Christian really was head-butted and apparently had a lump the size of an egg on his forehead for some time afterwards - notice how his hair is more down over his forehead in some scenes than others to hide the lump.
Trivia: This is the first film since A Perfect World (1993) in which Clint Eastwood has carried a gun.
Trivia: Pam Grier plays Flura Nash, the mother of Pluto Nash, played by Eddie Murphy. In reality, Grier is only twelve years older than Murphy.
