Factual error: Near the end of the film, Knox is flying a Huey helicopter, and the Angels hitch a ride by shooting it with a speargun and dangling on the line behind it. Suddenly adding about 200kg to a Huey in flight like that is going to cause all sorts of problems with the trim and airspeed of the aircraft. The pilot would know immediately that something was wrong. (01:23:20)
Factual error: The evil man request 100,000 pieces of gold for ransom. Each gold piece looks to be about 10 ounces, and 100,000 of those would make the entire thing weigh about 31 tons, but 2 guys are carrying it around in a little chest throughout the movie.
Factual error: In the movie, when the baby is born and Big Momma delivers it, the baby comes out without any blood and there's no umbilical cord. (00:34:20)
Factual error: When John Cusack puts Springsteen on his LP-player, he places the needle at the start of the record. The song that plays is the studio version of "The River." Therefore, the album has to be "The River," which is a double album, but "The River" is not at the start of either of the two LPs, but is the last song on LP #1. (00:18:10)
Factual error: In the scene where Billy's brother argues with a miner in the local shop, there is a plastic Polo dispenser that wasn't around in 1984.
Factual error: The train leaves for France from St Pancras station (clearly identified by The Shire pub), which is Northbound and has no connection to go back south for France.
Factual error: There is a a scene showing round bales of hay and as anyone in this district would know we never had those shaped bales out here in Parkes when man first walked on the moon, we only had the old rectangle shape bales of hay.
Factual error: When Dora and Paul walk into find the newborn baby kitten on the floor, it shows what a kitten would actually look like if it was newborn. However, after they save it and are with all the kittens later on, the kittens are walking around and they have their eyes open. Kittens don't open their eyes or walk for at least 2 weeks after being born. In the movie, they had just been born.
Factual error: When the "Little Wharvey Gals" are singing they show a shot of the crowd in which there is a man smoking a filtered cigarette. Cigarettes were not filtered until the late '40's.
Factual error: The shuttle re-entry being nose-down could never happen. You had to hit the atmosphere nose-up so the ceramic tiles took the heat.
Suggested correction: Not totally true, the nose and leading edge wing were RCC and could take 2300°F, just like the tiles on the underside.
Factual error: When Ryan and Jennifer are hanging out at their lookout spot, over the Golden Gate Bridge, they are looking at the bridge from the Marin County side. For those of you who aren't familiar with Bay Area geography, the distance between Berkeley and Marin County is about 15 or 20 miles, yet the two refer to walking back to campus a few times.
Factual error: Right at the end, Memphis escapes by jumping via a flatbed towtruck. The ramp is put down on those to tow away a vehicle so it should be backed right up to a vehicle to lift it on. That begs the question of why the ramp was down with no vehicles anywhere near it. The maximum distance that any driver would want to maneuver with the ramp down would be a couple of feet straight back.
Factual error: In the movie, there is a whole pack of jaguars. Jaguars are actually solitary animals.
Factual error: When Gerry and Cookie Fleck are at the Taft Hotel in Philadelphia, the manager of the hotel tries to run the Fleck's credit card through the credit card machine. When the manager pulls the card out and looks at it, you can plainly see that there is no magnetic strip on the back of the card at all. No wonder it didn't work.
Factual error: When they are making the room for the babies, they show the months that are going by, but the mom never has a pregnant belly.
Factual error: In the bowling alley scene, Jack's friend tells him that Kate is well-liked in all of Union County, but in the movie, Jack and Kate live in Teaneck, which is in Bergen County.
Factual error: When Elliot is the sensitive guy he picks up the guitar to sing a song to Allison. The guitar has a capo on it. During the song Elliot is changing cords and finger placement. He makes a cord above the capo. This would not be possible since the capo effectively cuts off the strings at the point of the capo. Any finger movement above the capo would not change the chord at all. (00:43:00)
Factual error: When Meg Ryan goes to visit her mother in Big Bear Lake, the mountain is on her left hand side. If you drive from Los Angelos to Big Bear the mountain is on your right hand side, therefore she was driving down the mountain instead of going up it.
Factual error: During the competition scenes between the Clovers and Toros, you can see a basket-toss stunt being thrown in the background: the girl is doing a full twisting flip... in a high school competition, this stunt is very illegal, and both teams would be disqualified for trying it.
Factual error: In the scene where Cousin Avi takes Bullet Tooth Tony's Desert Eagle, he unloads on the dog & kills Tony by accident. He shoots a total of 10 shots, but Desert Eagle .50's only hold 7 in the clip & one in the chamber. He never reloaded his gun.
Suggested correction: Knox wasn't a trained pilot. Either he had no clue to what was going on, or he thought something may have been wrong, but didn't know what to do about it.
Taking off and landing a helicopter are by far the most intense and difficult part of a pilot's training. Seriously, 99% of learning to fly is learning how to land and take off. If the pilot is skilled enough to take off in a Huey he is easily skilled enough to notice a massive additional drag on his helicopter due to the additional weight of the angels and the air resistance put up by such a bulky protrusion on his aircraft. If he isn't skilled enough to notice that, he isn't skilled enough to take off in the first place.
