Continuity mistake: In the scene where Jonathan picks up the scarab, it breaks open and the beetle inside starts to crawl under his skin. We see Brendan Fraser tear Jonathan's shirt and cut the beetle out of him. However, in the very next scene, we see Jonathan walking into the temple, his shirt is intact and there is no blood to be seen. (01:37:05 - 01:38:30)
Continuity mistake: When Kelly is on the boat with Hank and the soon to be headless deputy, her green vest (life-jacket) is fully unzipped. When we see her immediately after she's been knocked in the water, her jacket is zipped almost all the way up.
Continuity mistake: Rachel (Emily Bergl) is in her kitchen and she has a black and white flash back in her kitchen by the sink. One minute, she has on a flannel shirt, the next its gone and she's only wearing a tank top. A second later, the flannel shirt is back on.
Continuity mistake: When Frankie is about to receive the first stigmata (when sitting in the bath), a pigeon suddenly flies up. When she takes a piece of a feather that flew into the water, you can already see stigmata marks on her right-hand wrists.
Continuity mistake: In the flashback to the death of the headless horseman, when the horseman's steed gets shot and falls to the ground, the blood and the wound are on the right side of the horse...later in the scene when the horse is seen again, the wound is on the left side of the horse. Continuity mistake: When the shark is brought up to put the needle in his head, it bites off Jim's arm, leaving only a bit left there, but when they are wheeling him to the helicopter you see that he's got more arm than before. (00:33:50 - 00:35:25)
Continuity mistake: Right after Evelyn gets electroshocked, Blackburn takes off her mouth guard and a pool of blood leaks around her lips and down the side of her cheeks. In the next shot, there is a little bit on her lips, and a lot down the side of her cheeks, and several shots later she is seen with only a little dribble down her cheeks and none on her lips.
Continuity mistake: When Nell arrives at Hill House, after Mr. Dudley opens the gate and she drives through, between shots the amount of brown leaves on the ground around the gates increases.
Continuity mistake: After the priest writes down 666 on a piece of paper, he holds it upside down to reveal that it is 999. When we cut back to him a few seconds later, the numbers look completely different. (01:05:40)
Continuity mistake: When Molly ties Tanya's whip around a bar to let herself down from the air duct, you can see as she slides down that the whip is knotted at intervals. But a few moments later, when the severed hand draws the whip back up, you can see that there are no knots in it.
Continuity mistake: At the end when they "fly" out the ship you can see there are still high waves from the storm, but in the long shot of the ship exploding, the surrounding sea is a lot calmer.
Continuity mistake: Young Lucius kills a fly and Titus comes round the table to talk to him. There are several shots of the table. The position of Young Lucius' fork changes from the right hand side of his plate to the left.
Continuity mistake: When Beowulf is rescuing Pendra, at the end of the fight he is holding is sword over one of the men. In some shots it is clean, in others it has blood on it. (00:08:00)
Continuity mistake: When singing the song about what they would do if the monster came to their room in the night, Simon puts on Alvin's duvet/blanket as a cape. It then shows an imagination sequence where the blanket is a correctly sized cape to fit him. When it returns to the real world, the 'cape' is the size of his imaginary cape, nowhere near the size of the bed.
Continuity mistake: At the very beginning of the film we see the Seminar Leader start to write eXistenZ on the board. We see him write the letter 'e', but then the camera changes and he starts to write the letter 'X'. Notice that the letter 'e' has changed from how he originally wrote it. Then when he finishes writing eXistanZ the camera switches position again and the writing has all changed the look again. Most noticeable by the crossing of the letter 't'. As we saw him write it, then cross portion was much higher than in the wider shot.
Continuity mistake: As Corso leaves Quinta Fargas, he barely dodges a speeding car aiming to ram him. Clasping his canvas bag tightly, never dropping it, he presses his back against a large tree. As the camera cuts to a close-up, the bag is suddenly a yard away from him, on the ground.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Juliette Lewis is at her downstair's neighbour door, knocking on it, we see the hall empty, but right after, it's full of the trash bags.
Continuity mistake: When Maggie talks to Eddie Bo Smith Jr. (the Chicago cop) outside the meeting of "receivers", you can see the cop's breath when he speaks, but not Maggie's.
Continuity mistake: When Heather first picks up the bundle of sticks she carries them to the river. During this she steps over a log on the ground and if you look closely you can see the black bag containing the guy's teeth fall out but when Heather opens up the bundle it is still there. She couldn't have put it back herself.
Continuity mistake: When Guy Pierce is offered a nut by Jeffrey Jones, Jeffrey Jones picks up a book in order to smash the nuts. When the book is first seen, the spine of the book is in his right hand. After smashing the nuts, the spine is in his left hand. Then when he goes to replace the book on the shelf, the spine in now back in right hand.
