Continuity mistake: The final game is reported by the ESPN announcer as being the "Inaugural Bourbon Bowl", meaning it's the first one. Later, on Bobby Boucher's jersey, there is a patch that says "Bourbon Bowl 50th Anniversary 1948-1998".
Continuity mistake: In the locker room scene, Remer and Joe are both naked. When Remer goes to pull Squeak out the drawer, you see him put a robe on, but you also see him wearing underwear. It wouldn't be possible to put on underwear in about 1/2 a second.
Continuity mistake: As mentioned in a previous error, just before Jake is checked into the Surf Hotel, there is a long scrolling shot that illustrates the surroundings of Jake's room in the hotel. In particular, notice that Nathan's Seafood and Clam Bar is not across the street from Kennedy Fried Chicken. This is contradicted later when a) Jake looks out of his window and sees the Nathan's sign, and b) Jake is seen leaning out of his window above the Kennedy sign.
Continuity mistake: When the girl in the orange slides over the stones and then falls to the ground tumbling over and over, you can see that her arms are completely protected by black arm protectors, yet when she comes to a complete stop, they are now missing.
Continuity mistake: When Downtown strikes out on TV, he is wearing #14. When he is in the dugout getting hassled by Carlos Liston, he is wearing #16. (01:07:30)
Continuity mistake: In the final lap of the race with Pre vs. Frank Shorter the two runners round the last lap with Shorter leading the race. At first Shorter is leading in lane 1 with Pre following directly behind. Then Pre is suddenly in lane 2. For the final straight away, Shorter is now in lane 2 and Pre in lane 3. (Also a factual error as no runner leading a race would ever run in any lane other than the first which is the shortest distance). (01:36:00)
