Continuity mistake: Right before they rob the police car, a Boeing 747 (four engines) is seen in shots of the plane coming into land. When the plane is shown from behind, it is a Boeing 767, with only two engines and fewer main landing gears. (00:30:10)
Revealing mistake: Near the end when Ace gets into his Cadillac, in the first shot facing the front of the car, there is a protective glass in front of Ace (the same width as the windshield) with the dashboard in between that glass and the windshield. Note the vertical edge of the glass is visible at the right side, and the rearview mirror's sticker on the windshield casts a shadow onto the second glass. During the stunt, the flames on the dashboard are between the glass shield and the windshield, keeping the actor safe from harm. (02:46:05)
Continuity mistake: There is a scene where everyone is dancing. It's towards the end but not at the very end. One of the employees of the record store takes his shirt off. Then the camera cuts back and you see the entire group of people dancing. If you look at him he has his shirt back on. Then a couple of shots later he has it back off again.
Continuity mistake: Tom and Huck have just swore they won't tell about the murder. Tom writes an oath, and Tom and Huck slit their fingers to sign it in blood. Tom, slits the index finger on his right hand. He signs the oath, however, with his index finger on his LEFT hand.
Other mistake: After the post-bank robbery shootout, a TV reporter is heard describing the shootout as taking place in a "small southland neighborhood." But earlier one of the detectives was heard ordering road blocks at Flower and Figueroa, meaning the gun battle occurred in Downtown Los Angeles. Hardly a small neighborhood.
Factual error: When Zach and Nomi are talking on stage after Nomi's disastrous experience at the boat convention, Zach places a call to Phil Newkirk. There are several problems with the call: the cell phone doesn't appear to be on (he raises the antenna at the beginning and end of the call, but he never presses an "on" or "off" button); Zach doesn't punch in enough numbers for the call to appear legitimate (too many numbers for speed dial, but too few for a local seven-digit phone number [also, since he was using a cell phone it's unlikely that he dialed a hotel extension number]); and the pauses between his words and Phil's response on the other end of the line are too short to be believable.
Continuity mistake: When Babe is walking through the house, you will notice that several times his feet switch from muddy to clean as the camera angle changes.
Factual error: Throughout the movie, all sorts of messages are passed over the 1MC (ship's intercom) when the boat is supposed to be stealthy. They've set "Ultra Quiet" to avoid the enemy sub but no-one was any quieter, and everyone was still using the 1MC. Worse, people are shouting commands and status updates, both in person, and over the intercom! No wonder that Akula found them. The only thing protecting this ship was plot armor! In real life, messages would be passed quietly using sound powered phones (which we also see), rather than blasting the info loudly to the entire crew, because sonar will literally pick up the sounds of loudspeakers and people shouting. Let's not even mention classified target data being passed to the entire ship's crew on the 1MC. (00:49:00)
Continuity mistake: In a major fight scene two soldiers on opposite sides are jumping and spinning and tapping each other on the head with their swords.
Continuity mistake: Hester's estrange husband mistakenly kills a man at the end, and you see him cut his hair and his scalp off, then later when people find his body (after his suicide) his hair and scalp are intact. Then later you see him with the hair and scalp in his hands again.
Revealing mistake: A horse gallops through a field and you can see a telephone pole.
Continuity mistake: Moving out to Sera, Ben is packing his things in a motel. You can see a half full glass standing on a bed table on his left. In the next shot Ben is pouring alcohol to an EMPTY glass filling it in 1/3 approx. In the next scene glass is half full again and in the next one - FULL. Eventually he is drinking from a glass full of alcohol.
Other mistake: At the end of the first movie Rybak is a Chief (E7), and he is a retired Lieutenant (O3) during this movie. Assuming he got commissioned to Ensign (O1) immediately after the events of Under Siege, it would take a minimum of 42 months to be promoted to Lieutenant. This movie takes place within 4 years of the first movie, because Admiral Bates is still the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The picture of Rybak in his Lieutenant uniform is at least 5 years old according to his niece. None of these timelines make sense for the rank he is in the movie.
Plot hole: When Charlie sets out to hijack the money train, he jumps off the platform onto the tracks as it arrives, in plain sight of the driver and other passengers at the station, and only puts his mask on once he's in position on the tracks. The train conveniently stops right over top of Charlie, allowing him to enter through the conveniently-placed grate on the train's floor. (01:17:15)
Continuity mistake: As Brian lands the plane down to Bangor, his headset is on in a frontal shot, but in a reverse shot it isn't. (00:47:05)
Factual error: The suits worn by dangerous disease researchers would definitely never tear if the hose was pulled.
Continuity mistake: At Thanksgiving dinner when the turkey is spilled on her head. In one scene she is wet. The next scene she is dry again and then the next scene she is wet again.
Continuity mistake: When Deebo is riding his bike to Craig's house the first time, one shot shows Deebo nearly on the driveway. Just then Smokey and Craig remove all their valuables. If this were true, Deebo should have seen these. But then in another shot, Deebo's bike is shown just coming onto the driveway. In that amount of time, Deebo should have been further up the driveway.
Other mistake: When Michelle Pfieffer hands out menus for the restaurant in the class, they all read them out loud in English. Then when she takes Raul there, he says he can't read it because it's in French.
Suggested correction: It's for effect to show they were hanging out around the airport for more than a bit.
There's no evidence this was meant to be a montage scene of various planes. The cuts they did have in the first angle were of the same plane getting closer to build suspense. Same for the other angle. Plus, there's no scenes or shots of "them" waiting.
