Factual error: When McClane and Zeus take the little hatchback from the bank location, they run up the ramp by the Brooklyn Bridge and McClane looks to see the dump trucks aren't on the bridge. Zeus then spots them on FDR Drive and they speed off down the ramp to FDR Drive. The ramp they were on doesn't connect to the ramp they took to give chase. It only heads towards City Hall or over the bridge. They'd have to take the Civic Center ramp, do a u-turn under the Brooklyn Bridge approach then head back up the ramp to FDR Drive.
Factual error: Angela Bennett finds the Praetorian's IP while using the PC in the Cathedral's bank: it's 23.75.345.200 - they want us to believe that this is an IP, but no IP can contain numbers greater than 255. [Common practice, like fake phone numbers, but still worth noticing].
Factual error: A person with 60% burns on his body would not be wearing pyjamas, as the Hungarian guy does. (00:19:45)
Factual error: Near the end of the movie, as the money train is approaching the passenger train, the motorman is communicating on the microphone with dispatch. If you notice, as he is talking, his hand is NOT on the throttle. On the trains in the NYC subway system if the throttle is not depressed the train will stop.
Factual error: In the jewelry robbery montage, Joe Pesci is shown holding a rechargeable Mag-Lite flashlight which would not have been available at that time.
Factual error: Almost at the end of the film, Poncelet is marched to the death chamber, with Prejean's hand on his shoulder. They are led past an open door - which leads to the viewing room, where the witnesses will congregate. Some of them are already in the room. This is nonsense - it is inviting a bereaved relative to attack the condemned man. In fact the corridor to the death chamber goes nowhere near the witnesses' area, and Prejean would have had to have been escorted back through two guarded doors to reach it.
Factual error: As Al Pacino is catching up to Robert De Niro on the freeway he uses his walkie talkie to get an update on De Niro's location. He does not take his finger off of the talk button and therefore would not be able to hear the helicopter pilot's response.
Factual error: When Banderas is in the hotel room with the four dead guys, he realizes that Stallone is in the other room. When Banderas looks at the hotel TV screen, it displays the in-room guest service welcome page: "Welcome to Marriot's In-Room Guest Services". The hotel name is misspelled, while the spelling in the logo above it is correct.
Factual error: Sharp, distinct text and even graphics are shown projected from an early laptop screen onto the faces of Angelina Jolie and Jonny Lee Miller and even against a wall several feet in the background (starting 0:50:35 and throughout the rest of the movie). Of course, computer displays have never projected sharply-focused text or images onto user faces or any other nearby surfaces. (00:50:35)
Factual error: In one scene, we Dolores driving back home, after the scene where Vera tells her that accidents can 'happen' to wives husbands every day. The shot shows a huge full moon in the sky. Everyone who has every learnt any science/astronomy should know that a huge full moon cannot occur the night before a solar eclipse. (01:29:35)
Factual error: When the hovercraft is stopped after Jackie cuts the side open, it isn't slanted to one side(from the outside view), it is straight.
Suggested correction: It is slightly slanted... it's just hard to see with the camera angles, since it's mostly shot from the side once it crashes.
Factual error: During the scene where Navajas is throwing knives at El Mariachi and then the Bucho gang in the limo, he slides down in front of the car. The license plate simply says "Mexico" under the serial. Actual Mexican plates of the time period in the movie use the official state abbreviation followed by MEX to identify the state of issue. For example, JAL MEX for Jalisco, which is where the JWF685 serial seen on the plate would have been issued.
Factual error: The movie is set in 1948. When Easy first visits Albright about the job, Albright throws some $20 bills down in front of him. The top bill bears the signature of Treasury Secretary Nicholas F. Brady, which appeared on paper currency from 1988 to 1993.
Factual error: The morning after Katherine found out that Max was cheating on her, while Max is getting dressed for work he dumps out a box of aluminium cased ammo on the dresser, which was unavailable until the early 80's. (01:18:05)
Factual error: There is absolutely no way that Internal Affairs would have any authority or power to shut down an entire police force because of stolen drugs. As in the plot of the film, that type of decision would be decided by the city council on a vote and approved by the mayor. In any case, an extensive investigation would take place and the culprits would be arrested and prosecuted. No police force would be disbanded because of this absolutely fictional scenario.
Factual error: When Helen is launching the video that shows the girl turning into worms (the killer's next victim later found at the dumpster), typing "tomorrow.avi" as she does would have returned an error in Linux. She should have typed "call tomorrow.avi" to launch the video. (00:43:00 - 00:44:00)
