Factual error: When the shop vac shoots the golf ball at Mr. Wilson's gonads, it only affects him for around ten minutes. The shop vac was able to shoot a glob of paint over 50 feet in the air so the speed and impact of the golf ball would have done much more than put Mr. Wilson in extreme pain for a short while. The impact would have likely caused internal bleeding, swelling, causing him to vomit, probably a rupture, requiring him to be hospitalized. There is no way he is walking away from that, he wouldn't even be walking at all.
Factual error: Zippo lighters are sold dry, no fluid when new.
Factual error: For a baseball movie, you would think they would have known the rules of the game better. There is a scene in which Henry uses the "hidden ball trick" to pick a runner off of first base. He stands on the rubber on the mound with only the rosin bag in his hand while the first basemen holds the ball. It is a violation for him to stand on the rubber or straddle it without the ball in his hand and is called a "balk". Technically the runner should have been awarded second base.
Factual error: The display on John Spartan's cryogenic reads, "August 3, 2032," which will fall on a Tuesday. Later that same day, Huxley says to Warden Smithers, "It's a beautiful Monday morning" (00:11:30 - 00:12:15)
Factual error: John Candy is at the top of the Calgary Tower having lunch. In the background you see a building called Bankers Hall which is slightly higher than the Calgary tower, that's fine except this was the 1988 Olympics, that building wasn't completed until late 1990.
Factual error: After Marisa is almost raped by those 2 guys, she wants to be driven to work. Her brother drops her off, but wouldn't give her the car because he had school the next day. But it was the day before Christmas Eve that night, and who has school on Christmas Eve?
Factual error: In one scene, Mrs. Doubtfire pulls the symbol off of Stu's car. She shouldn't have been able to do that, since a cable connects the symbol to the inside of the car.
Factual error: During one of the scenes, you see a guy on a motorcycle wearing a Misfits jacket. The movie takes place in '76, but the Misfits didn't form until '77.
Factual error: Not long into the film, D'Artagnan jumps in some hay. There's a flag of the province of Québec (Canada) visible in the background. This film is set in France at a time this flag didn't even exist.
Factual error: In the beginning, when the President and First Lady disembark Marine One and walk toward the White House, you see the White House. The problem is that it's a set and only the center of it appears. The East and West portion of the main mansion are just sunny blue skies. (00:01:50)
Factual error: Although the movie is set in 1962, when Rodriguez jumps the fence of the junkyard, a red door from a '73-88 GM pickup can be seen in the background.
Factual error: At the end of the film, Amos is shown turning onto I-95 south. However, he does so from an intersection, not an on-ramp. Since interstates are limited-access highways, in reality he would have needed to use an on-ramp to enter I-95.
Factual error: While Meg Ryan is typing her letter to "Sleepless and Son," Rosie O'Donnell is sitting on the couch watching "An Affair to Remember." Any true AAtR fan can easily notice that the film's editing has obviously been altered by the Sleepless director - the scene with Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant leaning on the boat railing actually takes place towards the beginning of the movie, while the scene of them looking up at the Statue of Liberty takes place about four days later. However, in Sleepless, the order of the AAtR scenes shown on Meg's TV are incorrect - Kerr and Grant are leaning on the railing as the sequence starts, then jumps WAY ahead to them staring up at the Statue of Liberty (which then would have been about four days later), and ends with them standing next to the boat's railing again (four days before).
Factual error: Becca is going home for Thanksgiving, to South Dakota where it's already pretty much winter by that time. Yet the grass is green, the trees are full of leaves and the crops haven't been harvested yet. More like about August instead of November.
Factual error: Phil departs from the office right after the 5pm news. Punxsutawney is over 90 minutes' drive from Pittsburgh. The sunset in Punxsutawney in early February is about 5.30pm, so by the time they get there it should be completely dark. But it's bright daylight, without even a hint of twilight. (00:05:45)
Factual error: When Thomas is at the race track and putting a bet down, the money he's holding is newer, even though the scene takes place in the 60s.
Factual error: When Sharon is being driven by her Dad to the hospital to give birth to her baby ('Snapper'), they drive over a bridge on the River Liffey in Dublin to the south side of the city. However, the Rotunda Hospital, where she gives birth is on the North side of the city, quite a distance away from where they seemed to be headed.
Factual error: When Max goes to the bait shop with John and they are talking to Chuck about him going over to Ariel's house for Thanksgiving, they ask him if he saw the Blackhawks game, saying that it went into double overtime. NHL games only have one overtime unless it is a playoff game.
Factual error: During the whole movie, we can see wooded mountains around where the movie is taking place, first of all, these don't exist in England and second, during the end shot where we see a view of the entire area, there are no mountains.
Factual error: Although taking place in North Dakota, the Jeep and cop car have the older Illinois plates.
