Continuity mistake: During a conversation a clock can be clearly seen in the backround and the time is 11:50, the scene cuts to a closeup of Nick Nolte speaking, then back to the wider shot and it's suddenly become 11:55 in a matter of seconds. But it doesn't stop there, it again cuts away for a few seconds and when it comes back to a a shot of the clock it now reads 11:40.
Continuity mistake: During one scene, Mel Gibson is talking to the young boy through the treehouse door and holding the boy's jacket. The next scene, there is no jacket and then it magically reappears. (00:35:30)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Scott and Fran dance to the clapping of the crowd, the judge disappears and reappears between shots.
Continuity mistake: In the outdoor restaurant scene (where Tim Robbins has just spoken to Burt Reynolds), the waiter brings Tim Robbins a bottle of water and a wine goblet, but when he pours the entire bottle of water into the goblet, it's obvious that it was not a full bottle of water to begin with. It doesn't fill the glass of half way. A waiter would not serve an opened bottle of water to a diner.
Continuity mistake: When the family moves into the new house, the father rips the former owners' name sign off the front of the house. A few shots later, it's back.
Continuity mistake: After Curleys' wife dies, her body keeps changing position every time it is seen in the barn.
Continuity mistake: When Frank's dad is cutting mushrooms while cooking dinner, he slices a mushroom in a closeup. In the next shot, the mushroom is whole again.
Continuity mistake: Near the end, when the hitman walks out of the diner, the camera focuses on the car in the parking lot, cuts back to the hitman, then cuts back to the car. The problem is the shadows in the first shot of the car are about half a meter long, but a few seconds later they are two meters long. Obviously both takes of the car were taken hours apart.
Continuity mistake: After Claire punches Peyton for the first time, there is blood on Peyton's face. When she gets up off the floor, the blood is completely gone.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Hando is reading from Mein Kampf he joins his girlfriend on the bed. In the next shot a half-smoked cigarette appears in his hand holding the book. This is not there before nor after.
Continuity mistake: When Ray Liotta throws Madeline Stowe on the bed after she pulls the gun on him, he used his hands to pin her arms down. Then they cut to a different angle, her arm is pinned under Ray's leg and he's grabbing her hair.
Continuity mistake: After switching places with her sister, Heather gets into a cab bearing the phone number 555-1300. When she arrives at the Bay Marina, the phone number, as seen from the cab's opposite side, reads 552-1300.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Hasari comes back from work and he has got the school girl as a permanent customer, his friend goes to Kamla and tells her that Hasari has had a good day, and she closes the pot. Then a side shot of Kamla and Hasari is shown and you see her close the pot again..
Continuity mistake: When Chet and Stanley asks Irene some questions (in the café, about 15 minutes into the movie) about the murder, the cigarette Irene smokes changes a few times between the shots. Most obvious is the length of the ashes. (00:16:13)
Continuity mistake: When David Greene first arrives at his new school and is walking down the hallway to find his room, you can see a small piece of paper in his hand, but when he walks into the room and shakes the man's hand, the paper is gone.
Continuity mistake: There is a scene where dozens of police cars pull up the hospital's "driveway" to surround the building. In real life they could not be coming from that direction, the "driveway" is a park road that ends at a scenic overlook with no connecting streets.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film, Mary and Roger's nanny Brenda refers to Mary as "Mrs. Anderson", but according to the credits, Mary and Roger's last name is Charleston.
Continuity mistake: As Hampton's family leaves town for Happy World Land, the car's odometer approaches 100,000 miles and, at this point, Wade grabs a camcorder with his right hand and starts videotaping the event. But in the next shot however he's steering the car with both hands - and still operating the camcorder somehow. (00:05:50)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie Gabe and Roy are sitting in the bleachers and Roy is wiping his forehead with a towel as Gabe starts talking to him. The camera zooms in and Roy now has his arms folded on top of the towel with his legs crossed.
Continuity mistake: During the scene where Chaplin's brother is negotiating a deal for him, Chaplin and the secretary are having a conversation. During this conversation each of their tables has flowers on them. However, each time there is a close camera shot over their table the flower disappears and then reappears over and over.
