Continuity mistake: When Danny & Debbie are having their New Year's dinner at home, the champagne foam instantly disappears in the very next camera angle after pouring it.
Continuity mistake: When Terri is at the party, her blonde wig changes shape and size many times.
Factual error: That is not a crocodile that attacks Sue. It more closely resembles an American alligator - the squat, rounded snout gives it away. Australian crocodiles have a much sharper, more angular snout. There are other tell-tale physical features, most notably the placement of the alligator's teeth when it closes its mouth, but that's the main one.
Other mistake: After they take off from California, Kirk gives a heading to Alaska. He then tells Sulu "full impulse power", and Sulu says "aye, ETA 12 minutes." Full impulse is 1/4 the speed of light. No way they would use speeds like that to go a few thousand miles.
Visible crew/equipment: During the final fight scene where Jackie takes on the Amazonian women, there are several shots where dressed up stuntmen double for the women.
Visible crew/equipment: Near the beginning of the movie there is a brief scene around the empty house. While the camera is in the kitchen you can see a reflection of one of the set guys moving in the fridge handle.
Revealing mistake: When a baddie in a red jacket repeatedly punches Hightower, who's in the water, the fist always stops about 15 cm from his face.
Visible crew/equipment: When Newton is playing with the robot arm and the piano you can clearly see wires attached to the top of it controlled by the puppeteers.
Continuity mistake: In one scene, Steve Martin is shot in the arm and bleeds, but when the trio return after the riot the wound has disappeared.
Visible crew/equipment: When you see the plane flying to Tibet you can clearly see the blades of the helicopter from which the shot was taken at the top of the screen. (00:49:20)
Continuity mistake: When Walter is watching the fire go through the electrical system in the walls of the kitchen, watch the blender. One shot shows thick, chunky, white/orange stuff flowing out over the edge of the counter. The very next shot shows the blender toppled, but very clean. There is no trace of the chunky stuff in the blender or on the counter.
Factual error: When Steve Martin dies with the mask on, the inflation bulbs (the little black bags that inflate and deflate) deflate completely. Actually they should INFLATE completely and stay that way. The gas is still on full blast and Steve is no longer inhaling (which would cause them to deflate). It was done only to emphasize Steve Martin's demise but it's factually incorrect.
Continuity mistake: There is a scene where Molly Ringwald is confronting her father about lying about seeing a counsellor. His hair is sweaty and messed up a bit and then it changes position to Molly Ringwald and back to her father. Then you will notice that his hair is combed.
Continuity mistake: At the least swim meet, Chaz is shown diving before Jason Melon. Howver, after Jason dives, it then shows Chaz "up next" - and his hair is completely dry.
Continuity mistake: When the heroes dedicate their boat, Demi Moore's character knocks a hole in the side of the boat. In subsequent shots, the hole looks like it's been partially repaired.
Revealing mistake: In the opening scene the camera pulls back from a bedside locker to an over the shoulder shot of Kathleen Turner doing her make up in the mirror. Close inspection shows that the shoulder in the foreground is actually that of a double who doesn't quite match Turner's movements.
Factual error: When the first robot is trapped in the lift, the teenagers shoot the propane tanks on top of the lift in order to get them to catch fire and explode, killing the robot. However the teens are firing pistols or shotguns, and these do not contain incendiary ammunition, which is what is required to make the propane to catch fire.
Factual error: Calendar date at the very beginning of the film (in the police station), shows the dates of Saturday 20th/Sunday 21st July 1983. However the 20th and 21st July 1983 fell on Wednesday and Thursday.
Continuity mistake: Early in the movie, we see "Woody" driving a 1969 or 1970 Red Mustang. At the end of the movie, when he is driving his friends over to the mayor's house, he is driving a much older Mustang, either a 1965 or 1966. It is red like the first one, but the car's body style is obviously very different.
Continuity mistake: When Jack Burton and the rest of the gang escape from the Wing Kong Trade Centre the first time, the guards fire at the left side of the bus breaking the windows and making holes in the bodywork. When we see the bus a few seconds later as it is driving away, it appears undamaged.
Suggested correction: You can tell by the shape of the snout and the ridges above the eyes that, although animatronic, it is meant to be a Marine Crocodile that is native to Australia. It doesn't resemble an American alligator, which doesn't possess those pronounced ridges. Also, freshwater crocodiles can be seen in the boat ride scene where Mick motions for Sue to lean up off the edge of the boat. They have the narrower, angular snout that you referenced.
The placement of the alligator's teeth when it closes its mouth shows that it is more like an alligator than a crocodile. In fact, the animatronic puppet is a bizarre mish-mash of physical characteristics of both crocodiles and alligators.
