Continuity mistake: When Loretta Lynn is at the radio station asking why the disc jockey had lied to them about playing her record, you see the picture of her that they took at home. It is a completely different pose than the one that you saw them take a couple of scenes earlier. She is looking in a different direction and she is not smiling as much as she was when they took it.
Continuity mistake: The movie is supposed to have been filmed and taken place exclusively in Pasadena, TX, and MOST of it is. The trailer park that they live in, however, is NOT in Pasadena, or anywhere near there. There are several scenes where they show someone driving into the trailer park, and you can see mountains in the background. There aren't any mountains within hundreds of miles of Pasadena.
Continuity mistake: When the German NCO begins to walk up the sand dune he has a stick grenade in his right boot. Next shot half way up the dune, the grenade has changed boots.
Continuity mistake: When Reeves signs the guest register at the hotel in 1912, his signature is different from the one that he saw in the register that he found in the attic.
Continuity mistake: At a meeting to do with the hospital's dealings, one man, Mr Broadbeck, objects to the Elephant Man being a patient in the hospital - in the beginning he is wearing spectacles, but, a few seconds later, the spectacles are gone.
Continuity mistake: There is a scene in which it is raining quite heavily and Em and Richard are inside the hutch. Richard is playing Pop Goes The Weasel over and over which annoys Em. She stabs him in the foot and he chases her outside. In this scene she is wearing a strapless dress but when he catches her and pins her down on the sand she is wearing a lacey jacket (she didn't have time to change) and there are no clouds or rain. The sand doesn't seem to be very wet either, despite the fact that it was raining heavily a few minutes ago. (00:41:10)
Continuity mistake: When McVicar is going crazy he knocks the food off the table along with this yellow cup, however this reappears on the table again.
Continuity mistake: During the placing and arming of the explosive probes, twice the probe being placed is a completely different number to the one that is then promptly armed.
Continuity mistake: Skeletons of murdered prisoners are dug up on prison grounds. While Brubaker & the prison doctor examine the bones, it is pouring buckets of rain. They determine the head trustee is responsible. The next scene shows a pickup speeding down a dirt road kicking up clouds of dust in the blazing sunshine. All that water sure did dry up fast.
Continuity mistake: When Lasky heads toward the conning tower, an A-7 Corsair is shown at left (and the helicopter nose has a number "3" on it). As he is led inside the tower, the camera pans up, and now the Corsair is gone, replaced by an E-2 Hawkeye (and the number "3" on the heli is gone, too). (00:06:45)
Continuity mistake: In the restaurant scene where Conrad is sitting opposite Karen, the position of the drink glass in front of Conrad changes as the camera angle moves from Conrad's back facing Karen to Karen's back facing Conrad.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Robert De Niro asks Joe Pesci to punch him, you can see blood on De Niro's face at one point. Then you in the next shot of De Niro, there is no blood on his face.
Continuity mistake: Kim is at the kitchen table with her brother Alex. Kim has a necklace on. Kim asks Alex about having a date for the prom and all that is around her neck is a gold chain. The shot then cuts to Alex and then back to Kim and now there is a gold star hanging from her necklace.
Continuity mistake: When François starts talking to Coco in the cafe, the donut on her plate and items on the bar next to her keep moving between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Garland (Slim Pickens) finds out about the affair between Buck (Willie Nelson) and his daughter Lilly (Amy Irving). He takes a cab to the beach where Buck is hiding out. When Garland steps out of the cab, the bottle of tequila his is holding has just a little tequila in it. In the next scene when he is paying the driver the bottle is half full, and the next scene the bottle is almost completely full.
Continuity mistake: When Julian Kay is tearing apart his Mercedes to look for the stolen jewels, he is seen pulling some plastic off the driver's door, in the next shot, you can still see the plastic attached to the car door.
Continuity mistake: In the bus scene at the beginning, the little girl with braces (played by a nonspeaking extra) is seen at the front of the bus, on one side of the fight. Then she is seen near the middle of the bus, on the other side of the fight.
Continuity mistake: Rosa bit Tommy on the right corner of her bottom lip, but when she wipes blood away it's from the left corner of her bottom lip.
Continuity mistake: In the very last scene, Hoskins opens the back left hand passenger door. He gets in, and is seated right on the edge of the seat (as far left as he can go) when the car takes off, and Brosnan pops up and aims a gun at Hoskins. Hoskins does not move. However, from the camera angle, Brosnan is pointing a gun at the middle of the row of seats, whereas Hoskins is sitting on the far left.
Continuity mistake: Gus Soltic at the beginning of the movie pours ketchup on the eggs. When he's done, he moves away the bottle in one shot, but it's still vertical above the eggs in the next shot. (00:02:00)
