Deliberate mistake: Has there ever been a more obvious body double than the one used for Angie Dickinson in the shower scene? Not only does the top of every shot stop right at the collarbones, she is much taller than Dickinson, she has a much deeper tan and (of course) her breasts are much, much bigger. In fact that is Victoria Johnson, Penthouse Pet of the Month for August, 1976.
Deliberate mistake: At the end fight scene, when they are in the barn one of the men falls crashes through the wall when they get hit, spilling the fight to the outside. Unless the barn's walls were made of cheap plywood, the wall would not have given away so easily. Obviously done for dramatic purposes.
Deliberate mistake: In a couple of scenes, Bandit's Trans Am's engine sounds are dubbed, and you can hear the shifting of a manual transmission when his car was an automatic.
Deliberate mistake: The 100-meter 'dash' goes over a longer distance and lasts longer than shown in the movie.
Deliberate mistake: The 27th floor is very tiny indeed, despite the outside view showing it to be as big as any other floor. On one end is the stairway. On the opposite side is the elevator Adam's team rides up in. There are only 4 rooms total, and between two of the room doors is the elevator ridden by the security guards. Also, logistically, the security Guard's elevator cannot be there if you notice the area at ground level where Adam's team enters their elevator. (01:46:40)
Deliberate mistake: Joseph (John) Merrick's speech was never as audible as shown in the film, and several operations were needed before he could speak at all. Even after that, Frederick Treves often had to "translate" what Merrick said because the majority of people still had problems understanding him. [Probably changed to simplify the storytelling, but still inaccurate].
Deliberate mistake: When Jamie Lee is picked up hitch hiking, the view out the front windshield, while pulling over to pick her up, is identical when they pull over moments later after all the windows are shattering.
Deliberate mistake: When Adam kills himself and Hector at the end, the explosion sends a lot of water and parts of Hector into the air. But there is no sign of Adam's blood, body parts or clothing, despite the fact that the bomb was strapped to him. (01:16:10)
Deliberate mistake: When they are playing strip monopoly, Alice purchases Baltic Avenue and then Bill rolls the dice and Alice exclaims that he's rolled an "8" - putting him on Baltic Avenue. However if you look carefully at the dice (before Brenda quickly scoops them up) you can see they show two 5's. (00:40:05)
Deliberate mistake: The floating candy bar that clears everyone from the swimming pool is a Baby Ruth, but Baby Ruths don't float, they sink like a rock.
Deliberate mistake: When the villains rampage the White House, the flag's base remains on the ceiling, and the flag pole falls inside the house. So the final scene with Superman carrying the flag and its base as if it had been previously stolen or destroyed, is nonsensical, but it looks very patriotic indeed.
Deliberate mistake: Although Kubrick might've done this on purpose to show that the Overlook is unusual, as Jack is walking to the office to meet the manager, there is a left turn ahead, leaning to another hallway. When he goes into the manager's office, there's a window behind his desk that shows trees outside, but it shouldn't be there because that's where the hallway is.
