Continuity mistake: A shot of the chiefs' bench shows Newman on the left and Ontkean on the right. Ontkean says "I can't believe my frigging eyes." Neither can I. The next 2 rapid camera cuts show Ontkean on Newman's left, then on Newman's right again.
Continuity mistake: In a scene in a town on the rooftops as the British fight the Nazis, we see that the townsfolk were truly ahead of their times as they nearly all have television antennas.
Continuity mistake: When Bernard and Bianca arrive at the airport, and wait for Orville, Bianca removes her coat. Yet when we see her through the window, her coat has reappeared and it then vanishes again. (00:25:15)
Continuity mistake: When Tony walks into 2001 that first night, he shakes hands with some guy as he is walking through the club and again a few minutes later. (00:13:00)
Continuity mistake: Jack Lemmon is picked out of the ocean by two men in a rubber boat. Both have dark hair and moustaches, one is balding. When they arrive back at the ship, both men have blond hair, are clean shaven, and are obviously younger. (01:24:10 - 01:24:55)
Continuity mistake: The film starts in Muncie Indiana. There is a scene in the hills near the town. There are NO hills near Muncie, it's flat as a board. (00:24:30)
Continuity mistake: When the crew hauls the female orca aboard the boat, the harpoon line is wrapped around her entire body several times. When they cut the rope and drop her into the water, the line is wrapped only around her tail. When the male orca is pushing her at sea, the rope is again wrapped around her entire body.
Continuity mistake: The tyres on the bus don't blow until the firing has stopped and the bus comes to a stop.
Continuity mistake: Jesus is shown from behind on the cross with large gashes on the backs of his legs. He was flogged across the shoulders and back only at the pillar.
Continuity mistake: Henry takes off the wrong shoe/sock to dry off.
Continuity mistake: When Evel Knievel goes to the insane asylum to break his buddy Will out of the institution, he crashes through the front door with the Stratocycle, breaking off the airplane-style wings on each side of the bike in the doorway. In the next shot, as he rides down the hall, the wings are still intact.
Continuity mistake: In the scene at the remote gas station, after Brubaker has entered the office, he goes through the cash register which is located at the end of the counter [viewer's right]. A couple of shots later, after breaking into the Coke machine, and while he is at the pay phone, the cash register is nearly a foot to the viewer's left on the counter. Also the coin box from the Coke machine is to the right of the cash register on the counter. In the previous shot when he turns from the Coke machine to go to the pay phone, you see the end of the cash register without the coin box in the way.
Continuity mistake: After the disco scene, the protagonist is back home. She receives a phone call from Jacques and meets him. When she has a wine glass in hand, the glass switches hand from left to right in the cut when she sits down.
Continuity mistake: When Regan and Bianca first jump on the bus to escape the hitmen you can see through the windows that there are only six people on the lower deck, but when the scene changes to inside the bus all the seats are full. (01:00:24)
Continuity mistake: Philippe Noiret is sitting in his chair, drily commenting on the display previously offered by Charlotte Rampling when she was bare-breasted. During the scene, the position of his glasses as he suckles on them changes frequently, and at one point the arms go from folded 90° to less angled/straight as the view changes.
Continuity mistake: Inès the Housekeeper is on the boardwalk looking at the ship and the various passengers that disembark. She waves at Mrs. Susan House when she sees her, and walks up to her, meeting there amongst the passengers who just got off the ship...the same dudes (a man with a striped T-shirt, a guy with an open shirt with white pants, one denim-clad guy with a bag) who were lazing around not too far from her when she was on the promenade. Continuity mistake: Near the end, while Kabakov is atop the blimp, he finally attaches the cable hook to the blimp. Just as he wraps the canvas strap around the hook, Kabakov's white shirt is neatly tucked into his pants, whereas in the previous and following shots, his white shirt is fluttering in the wind and we can see his abdomen and back. Continuity mistake: When Jodie Foster gets hit in the face with the tomato, she has a smear of tomato juice across one cheek. The very next shot shows the tomato juice all over her face. (00:55:32)
Continuity mistake: Introduction of Ilona Staller; Dr. Wong leaves saying "Nice to meet you." Next shot and Ilona Staller's right hand which was out of frame is now abruptly on her chest. (00:06:15)
Continuity mistake: After the Abebo murders, tempers run high at the meeting of the clan. The sinister Sakoda accuses the one raising objections to be a wimp, and the guy slams his fists on the table. The president of the meeting says "stop it"; Sonny Chiba is leaning forward with both hands, but in the next shot he has one hand in front and one in the back. (00:20:00)
