Continuity mistake: Lady is put in her bed and the master leaves the kitchen but he goes back in and puts a newspaper on the floor and leaves again but Lady gets out of her bed so the master comes back once more and puts her back in her bed but the newspaper on the floor has vanished.
Continuity mistake: During the desert chase sequence, when our hero is run off the road by Ernest B. his missing arm is momentarily transposed when he steps from the jeep.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where the Reluctant is in the port of Elysium and the men are on shore leave, a truck load of MPs show up. Ttheir patrol leader tells Mr. Roberts that his men will be stationed along the starboard side of Mr. Roberts ship for the remainder of its stay in port because of the problems various members of the ship had been causing while on shore leave. No sooner do the MPs line up along the side of the ship do you see one of the ships crew flying down the dock on a motorcycle. When the motorcycle passes the ship the MPs who just 10 seconds before were lined up along the ships starboard side are now nowhere to be seen.
Continuity mistake: On the honeymoon night, when Willa approaches to the bed, Harry stands up and lights the lamp above in front of him. Between shots the lamp changes position.
Continuity mistake: When the soldiers are ambushed by the Germans, they jump off and Jack Kelly is wounded in the arm, showing a torn shirt and bloody arm. Later when Audie Murphy is wounded and in the hospital Jack Kelly visits him. The only bandage on him is on his hand, which wasn't injured before.
Continuity mistake: At the Stardust Ballroom, listen to the first song the dance band is playing on the soundtrack. It skips measures and at one point is hastily spliced to begin again so as to continue because more time is needed in the scene. The MGM DVD copy is incomplete because it is missing the scene in which Clara speaks with her parents after her evening with Marty. The scene is present on the CBS/Fox VHS.
Continuity mistake: In the Police Station at the beginning of the film James Dean takes off his flecked jacket to reveal his spectacle case in his top pocket. As his character does not wear glasses the offending case is removed in the next scene.
Continuity mistake: When James Dean's mom writes out a check for $5000 and gives it to him, she licks the envelope first, but when she actually hands over the envelope to him, it's clearly not sealed.
Suggested correction: I noticed this, too, but as it's all one shot, it's not a continuity error; it's simply that she didn't properly seal the envelope. Not a film mistake.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Trevor Howard and José Ferrer are sharing what appears to be some port (about 50 minutes into the movie), the port decanter has a drip stopper in the long shot which disappears in the close-up shot of Leslie Howard and then re-appears in the following longer shot.
Continuity mistake: When the fire trucks are scrambled for the General's plane, watch for the open cab fire truck. It pulls fourth in line. The shot then shifts to show some sort of armored carrier go by,the shot then shifts back and the open cab fire truck is parked back by the building.
Continuity mistake: Wallis is showing his idea to the doctor and draws on the sketch of the dam. Shortly after, he shows the doctor the same sketch again and the middle line we saw Wallis draw has now changed position. (00:06:40 - 00:07:50)
Continuity mistake: In the climatic confrontation between Artie West and Mr. Dadier at the end of the movie, West cuts Dadier in the hand with his knife. The scene cuts to Dadier holding up his hand, and it's already covered in blood.
