Continuity mistake: The train that transports The Haynes Sisters and Wallace and Davis from Florida to Vermont is shown as being of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in one sequence, and of the Southern Pacific Railroad in another. Neither railway ran on the east coast of the U.S.
Continuity mistake: Before Tony leaves he closes the drapes. He then says he won't go out and will stay home. She says to go out, and he agrees, so he goes to the drapes and closes them again.
Continuity mistake: There's an oscillating fan near the ceiling that alternates between running and not running from one cut to another in one scene.
Continuity mistake: In the barn dance scene Gideon is doing flips on the sawhorse. His shirt becomes untucked and then retucked between flips.
Continuity mistake: When Johnny Friendly is threatening Charlie about keeping Terry from testifying, they are seated at a table across from each other. There is a bottle of alcohol in front of Charlie. In most of the scenes of Charlie behind the bottle, the label can be seen in full. In a couple of scenes, the bottle is turned to the right and only shows a partial label. Charlie was obviously not handling the bottle.
Continuity mistake: When Ned Land dives into the ocean to save Nemo from the giant squid, his knife is in his hand. After Ned reaches Nemo, he then draws the knife from its sheath.
Continuity mistake: Caligula orders his chief gladiator to kill a prisoner so he can test the Robe's "powers". The gladiator stabs the prisoner with a dagger and straightens up. Look at the dagger and you'll see no blood on it.
Suggested correction: This may not be a mistake. It's entirely possible to stab either a person or an animal with a quick thrust and retrieve and show very little or no blood. Especially with a slim blade.
Continuity mistake: When James Whitmore is attacked by the ant in the Los Angeles sewer system, James Arness arrives, firing an M-1 Garand rifle. In the next scene, he's armed with a Thompson submachine gun.
Continuity mistake: After the operation to change Vic Brady's face, the first time the bandages come off, the scar on his forehead runs diagonal from the top of his nose to well above the eye. However when he's shot by the pool, the scar runs laterally across the middle of his forehead.
Continuity mistake: In the scene at Yosemite where Keith is waiting for May to have breakfast there is a big silver pot on the table. After May arrives the pot isn't there anymore. (00:43:45)
Continuity mistake: When Richard Denning and Richard Carlson approach the boat ladder coming back from their first dive in the Black Lagoon, you can see the net hanging underwater just to their right. It already has the huge torn hole that is in it when they hoist it up after the creature is caught for a moment in a later scene.
Continuity mistake: When Van Johnson sneaks away from the girl in the rocking chair, she is sleeping with his hat in her lap. In the next scene, he has his hat back.
Continuity mistake: In the scene containing the Jitterbug contest, the waiter removes Jerry Lewis' dinner plate to give him champagne. After a cut away to the emcee, the waiter again removes the same dinner plate.
Continuity mistake: When Marilyn Monroe tries to untie the raft and Robert Mitchum can just catch the rope it the river flows from left to right. Later, when they take off again together, the river flows from right to left.
Continuity mistake: At one point bus driver Frankie Howard shins up a signpost to read road directions in the fog. The sign says WET PAINT and he slides down with his uniform jacket streaked and ruined. However, several minutes earlier, as he leans forward to peer into the night, Howard is already wearing the paint-stained jacket.
Continuity mistake: Sabrina calls Linus from the lobby public phone and he leaves the phone close to the tickets. The next scene shows the phone on top of the tickets, even though the office is empty and no one has had the chance to move them.
Continuity mistake: Shichiroji throws a spear out the door of Rikichi's hut in anger, it lands obviously in parallel with the door. Later, after Kikuchiyo's outburst he runs outside and picks the spear up, however it's now laying sideways compared to the door.
Continuity mistake: As the crippled airliner nears the coast, John Wayne slips his life jacket over his head, then provides one for another crew member. He then turns toward the cockpit, and his life jacket has magically threaded itself around his waist, and tied itself in place.
Continuity mistake: In the scene set during the King Arthur and the Round Table era we see the end of a battle scene. The camera pans in on some dead enemy and we see a man in a helmet face down. The scene then changes but comes straight back to the dead enemy. The man in the helmet has turned away as if to survey the scene before him. Within a second he turns his head back to the original "dead" position. (01:19:30)
Continuity mistake: When Piggy is seated at the dinner table, there is a bowl of fruit with a yellow lid next to it, and Piggy has in front of him a plate with a spoon on one side and a knife and fork on the other. After Piggy's mother stops him from taking some fruit, we cut back to Piggy, and the bowl of fruit and yellow lid have disappeared, and he only now has a spoon by the plate.
