Continuity mistake: At the end of the "Bye, Bye Baby" song the two girls are standing at the railing with two people in between them and the detective. When the shot cuts to their backs the two people in between the detective and the girls have disappeared.
Continuity mistake: When Audrey eats her gelato on the steps of the Spanish Plaza, if you look closely, the time is about 12:00 when she buys the cone. However, when she starts eating it, you can see that it's past 3:00.
Continuity mistake: There is genuine wartime footage of Spitfires of the the right type for the period, but other scenes have later (maybe even postwar) versions flying about.
Continuity mistake: When William Holden is laying on his bunk and first notices the shadow of the hanging electric bulb, he turns around to look at the bulb, but there is no light source beyond the bulb to cause such a shadow.
Continuity mistake: When George Loomis comes back to the cabins, after the lover tried to kill him at the falls, he wears the lovers shoes. But after he walks on the grass, just before the end of the shot, the top of the shoes is not white anymore as if he was wearing his own shoes. (00:45:00)
Continuity mistake: While the close-ups showed heavy ice build-up on the doomed plane, the long shots showed no ice at all.
Continuity mistake: During the cemetery scene a wide shot shows the Tetons in the background almost cloud covered, and a few minutes later as everyone leaves the funeral to fight the fire, the wide shot shows the mountains clear.
Continuity mistake: After 1st Sgt. Milton Warden breaks the bottle to stop the fight between Pvt. Angelo Maggio and Sgt. James R. "Fatso" Judson, he throws the bottle in a corner. In the next shot, he's sitting down with the broken bottle on the table in front of him.
Continuity mistake: Jesus's garment appears to shrink during this movie. It covers him at one stage, but ends up small enough to drape over Richard Burton's shoulders.
Continuity mistake: While Schatze's getting ready for her wedding, when Pola comes in she tries on the fur stole and instead of putting the fur stole back on the bed it slips onto the floor, but when Loco walks in with Eben the fur stole is lying on the bed beside the fur coat, though it wasn't touched. Continuity mistake: The wagon Buffalo Baker is driving, one horse is killed and Honda cuts the leads and they take off again. In final scene his wagon has 4 horses again.
Continuity mistake: In a scene supposed to be after the ship has been fitted with radar, it is shown entering harbour with the 'lantern' removed and the aerial covered, which is how it's shown before the ship has the radar fitted.
Continuity mistake: Just after Houdini returns to the United States from his European tour, he stages a publicity stunt. The lady in the apartment opens her window shade and sees Houdini hanging upside down, directly outside the window. When it cuts to an outside shot, he is now suspended above the roof line, where the woman would not be able to see him.
