Revealing mistake: In the final Indian chase at the conclusion of the film, when a covered wagon rolls over, one can see the rope that was used to ensure it tipped over.
Revealing mistake: After Jim's horse is shot from under him while running down the really steep hill, and Jim later regains consciousness, before he turns and finds his horse dead, if you watch closely you can see the horse still breathing.
Revealing mistake: When Shane punches Chris in the bar, you can see that Shane's fist actually misses Chris' face.
Revealing mistake: In one of Pickett's charge scene the bayonets are obviously rubber.
Revealing mistake: In the scene where Captain Love and Antonio Banderas (as Zorro) meet in the hallway of the hacienda, two guards rush down the hallway and drop their rifles and swords. Zorro asks them to bend over and then proceed to kick/nudge them out the window. If you watch carefully, you'll notice that the guard on the right (furthest from Zorro) reacts to the kick too early. (01:33:30)
Revealing mistake: In the scene where Cobb's mean attack Emmitt, Mal shoots one of the men in the hand. The shot pauses long enough to show that hand is quite a cheap, plastic-looking fake prop hand.
Revealing mistake: When Wyatt Earp and the actress, whom he marries later in the movie, meet on horseback, they go on a fast paced ride that concludes after going down a steep hill. If you look at the actress' feet, you will see she is riding side-saddle - a very difficult feat considering the riding they do. If you look closely you can see her real leg, safely on the other side of the horse. The side-saddle leg must be fake.
Revealing mistake: When Warren begins shooting Bob, a massive blood spurt is shown each time he shoots him. Each time he is shot, the blood spurts don't line up with the area where Warren shoots at. The first time Warren shoots Bob, the gun is showing firing at his stomach, but the blood is shown spurting from his chest and the second time he shoots Bob, the gun is fired at the top of his chest, but the blood spurts come from a couple of inches below where he was shot. Revealing mistake: Although the film is set during the aftermath of the Mexican War (1848-50), the mountain vistas display some lovely radio towers and fire ranger stations.
Revealing mistake: In the extended version of the film during the buffalo hunt, there is a shot of a buffalo making a turn and in the distant horizon, you can briefly see a modern radio tower on top of a hill.
Revealing mistake: At the end, when the train destroys the time machine, right at the moment when it hits you can see a small explosion, which was used to trigger the destruction of the time machine. (01:43:03)
Revealing mistake: After the cowboys have terrorized the village at the beginning, the girl finds her dead dog and starts crying, when she picks it up it's painfully obvious it's a stuffed toy.
Revealing mistake: In the final scene as Doc tell Billy good-bye if you look up to the top right hand corner of the screen you can clearly see a jet trail in the blue sky. Certainly not possible in those days. (01:42:20)
Revealing mistake: In the jail scene, Gene Hackman is reading from a book. When he turns the book too far towards the camera you catch a glimpse of his lines on brighter white paper attached inside the book.
Revealing mistake: After Manco beats up Cavanaugh and places Cavanaugh's back up against the bar, while Manco faces him, three of Cavanaugh's henchmen appear at the entrance of the bar demanding that Cavanaugh be released. Manco turns around and kills all of them with his pistol, while Cavanaugh falls to the floor crawling toward his gun. Manco is walking toward the entrance of the saloon with his back to Cavanaugh. Manco draws his gun and kills Cavanaugh without looking at him. If you look closely at the tip end of the pistol, you can see that the only thing that Manco would have killed was the saloon floor. (00:17:00)
Revealing mistake: When McKay and Ramon are riding into Blanco Canyon to rescue Julie, you can see a diesel loading shovel with its bucket raised in the bottom of the frame of one of the scenic shots. Presumably the scene was shot in a quarry and they didn't get all the equipment out.
Revealing mistake: This mistake occurs in the beginning of the film where the bandits rob the train. When Jackie is standing on the coal (or was it wood?) car you can see the train is passing a modern sign (you can see it on the right).
Revealing mistake: In the scene out West with the buffalo, notice the car driving in the distant background.
Revealing mistake: As Jango fires the machine gun, the ammunition chain hanging from it is loaded on both sides, and it doesn't move. Also the belt has different sizes of cartridges in it. (00:45:30)
Revealing mistake: When McCullough is discussing Prudy's oddities with the matronly lady out front of the mayor's house, it is obvious that the lady is standing on a dirt-covered concrete sidewalk.
