Character mistake: The commentator says "avalanche of power shots by Ivan Drago." Viktor is the one in the ring. Ivan is the father. If you have the subtitles turned on, it even says Viktor in the subtitles instead of the spoken name, Ivan. (00:55:45)
Character mistake: When Missy is at her audition, Courtney and Whitney get annoyed and tell her to do a sequence, (front handspring stepout, roundoff back handspring stepout, roundoff back handspring, full twisting layout). However, when Missy starts the sequence, she starts with a cartwheel instead of a front handspring.
Character mistake: The sign for the hotel where Jake is staying at in Mexico says Tengo Quarto's para Renta. The word is spelled wrong. It should say CUARTOS. Also, there is no apostrophe s in cuartos. It is plural, not possessive.
Character mistake: When Coach Fullmer is recruiting Michael and SJ to Tennessee, he ends the conversation by calling SJ the wrong name - "my pleasure, CJ." (01:33:25)
Character mistake: When Stan inflates himself, Michael asks, "How'd he do that?", implying that he doesn't know the rules of the Looney Tunes world. Since Michael was rolled into a ball by the aliens earlier in the film, this shouldn't be too much of a surprise.
Suggested correction: When Michael was rolled into a ball, he wasn't concerned with how that was possible and soon after he forgot about it. He was more concerned with dealing with the Monstars at the time and, in particular, helping his cartoon friends preparing for the game. When Michael witnessed Stan being flattened and inflated, it looked particularly strange and unfamiliar to him, unlike before as he couldn't watch himself experiencing being rolled into a ball. And that is what triggered his response about questioning how it was possible.
Character mistake: In the Liverpool match the commentator says that Liverpool could win their 19th title, in the 1988-89 season Liverpool had 17 titles, and won their 18th title the year after in the 1989-90 season.
Character mistake: When Rocky makes his speech after his fight with Drago, he says that it's better that one person fights another instead of a million fighting a million (a US USSR war). The Russian translator misinterprets his speech and says that this is better than a million dollars. You don't have to understand Russian (although I do) to hear the translator says million dollars to confirm this blunder of a mistake. (01:22:25)
Character mistake: When Casey is using her knowledge of physics to advise a figure skater, she states, "Pull your arms in real tight. That increases your moment of inertia". In fact, this is the exact opposite of how it really works. Reducing her overall radius makes her rotational inertia smaller. (00:21:05)
Character mistake: In the build-up to the final race, a TV commentator says, "Jimmy Bly starting in the 26th pole position because he didn't qualify today." This makes no sense, as Bly cannot be starting from both 26th place and from pole. (01:36:37)
Character mistake: In the meeting in 1984 when Jason Bateman first appears they have players on the whiteboard in the background. They have "Hakeem Olajuwon." He didn't put the H back in his name until 1991. So it should have been "Akeem Olajuwon." (00:08:40)
Character mistake: Chick Gandil mispronounces Eddie Cicotte's name, calling him "Si-coty" instead of "See-cot."
Character mistake: During Mickey's MI it's stated that his blood pressure is 200/50 (that alone is ridiculous) and the doctor immediately says "OK. Let's start CPR." If Mickey has a BP he has a pulse, and any CPR certified healthcare provider would know that you can't do CPR on a patient with a pulse.
Character mistake: In the scene where the Panthers are being introduced, the announcer states that one boy is "Walter 'The Hook' Coster", and another is "Frank 'The Razor' Schmidt". But in another scene, when one of them is batting, he says Frank Coster. Although they look exactly the same, he accidentally mixed the two names together. There is no Frank Coster. (01:12:50 - 01:19:15)
Character mistake: In School Ties, when they are playing the football game, the coach calls the character of "Chesty Smith" (Affleck) "Benson" instead of "Smith".
Character mistake: During the game against the Cardinals in the playoffs, the announcer says that Averman passed to Guy who then scored. First, Guy does pass the puck back to Averman, but then he passes it to Banks who scores the second goal, propelling them to the playoffs.
Character mistake: When Eli discusses with Sonny about draft picking she mentions that Tom Brady was picked by the #198 place in the draft but actually he picked by the #199 place in the NFL draft. (01:10:00 - 01:11:00)
Character mistake: When McConaughey and Fox are at West Virginia University to ask their coaches for help with their offense, McConaughey is shown talking while looking at his reflection in a football trophy. At first his reflection shows him talking out of the left side of his mouth, but then he quickly switches to talking out of the right side of his mouth as he does throughout the entire rest of the movie.
Character mistake: During the movie, Stallone Lincoln Hawk is referred several times as 'Hawks' by other characters (the police officer retrieving him from his cell, as well as his former father-in-law, who should know his real name). Lincoln actually calls himself Hawkes before he crashes the gate.
Character mistake: While watching a documentary about the Soviet team Herb Brooks says that the Soviets had had 42 games in the last three months with 42 wins. This was supposed to be said in 1979. In the whole of 1979 Team USSR played 24 games only, winning 23 of them and losing Game 1 of the 1979 Challenge Cup, to the NHL All-Star team.
Character mistake: When Fish is offering Jack the contract to sell Henry to the Yankees, and later when Jack insults Henry's father, they both refer to Jack as Henry's manager. But Martinella is Henry's manager; Jack is Henry's agent. While the terms can be used interchangeably in other businesses, such as music, in baseball they are two separate titles with separate job descriptions.
