Question: The woman that writes "run" on Teddy's note pad, was Ben Kingsly trusting this "crazy woman" not to tell Teddy or even let it slip that the whole thing was set up for him? Same question goes for every other crazy person in the institute that Teddy speaks to.
Answer: Teddy belonged in Ward C. He would have never met any of the patients.
Chosen answer: The other patients were not let in on the arrangements. They would have had no reason to suspect that anything at all had been set up for Teddy. As far as they're concerned, if they're cognizant enough to be concerned at all, Teddy's just another crazy guy acting as crazy as all the rest of them.
Answer: I think Mrs Kearns is in on it. We see her get a little flustered when she is asked about the doctor, who we find out later is sitting right there. Also, she gets uncomfortable when Teddy brings up Andrew Laeddis. She even tries to warn Teddy. I just discovered this recently when watching with the subtitles, but when Teddy comes back from the cave, Mrs Kearns can be heard saying "I can't remember what I'm supposed to remember", likely referring to the script she was supposed to stick to.
Question: Who is the man in the picture in the office of the hospital? Is it supposed to be Nick Nolte when he was young, working as the night watchman?
Chosen answer: It is intended as a nod to the original 1994 version of the film, which supposedly featured the same picture in the watchman's booth.
Question: If Cole truly knows that Malcolm is a ghost throughout the film, then how do you explain the advice Malcolm gives Cole to "listen to them [the ghosts.]"? Isn't Cole already doing that by listening to Malcolm? How did Malcolm really help Cole deal with his ghosts and fears if the key advice he gave him was something Cole already did the moment he met Malcolm? If Cole already knew to listen to ghosts (e.g. Malcolm), then how did Malcolm really help Cole in reality? (Or was the point of the film more that of Cole helping Malcolm instead?)
Chosen answer: First, be clear that Cole was afraid of Malcolm at first. He is tense when Malcolm first walks into the church. He relaxes with him over time. Remember too that we learn that Cole's grandmother visits him sometimes, and he indicates no fear of her (though I'd guess he was scared at first). More than once in the movie he indicates or infers that not ALL the ghosts he sees are scary. Keeping in mind this is fiction, and not every possibility can be addressed, the flow of events shows that the "solution" is to help the ghosts through listening to their problem(s). The ghosts are lingering due to some issues they wish to see resolved in some manner. It seems Kyra wanted her father to know the truth of her death - indications are this was to protect her little sister who was already being targeted by the step-mother. Things are slightly more complex for Malcolm because his anchor to this life is coincident with helping Cole find the solution to these ghosts. So Malcolm is both persistent and has the training to pierce Cole's resistance and fear; while Cole possibly talks to some ghosts, the ones who aren't scary, he doesn't necessarily "listen" to them in the sense that Malcolm advises later in the movie. Thus, that key conversation leads Cole to the confidence to deal with the ghosts without fear, and also resolves Malcolm's guilt over Vincent.
In a way, it's like Malcolm is getting a do-over, a second chance, with Cole, to do what he failed to do with Vincent, which is to help him deal with having the "gift" of the sixth sense, being able to see, hear, and interact with ghosts, in order to help them to realise the fact of their death and move on.
Answer: At the beginning of the money, as Malcolm reviews his notes, Vincent's name is on top, however, on the next shot when the paper is shown up close, it now has Cole's name. There is a direct connection. Because of this scene, I thought Malcolm was trying to keep his promise to help Vincent. Both Vincent and Cole have the same gray streak in their hair. There is a direct connection.
Question: What is the significance of the no. 1 seating number in which Terence Mann sits at Fenway?
Answer: This is speculation, but the No.1 seat possibly referred to Terence Mann being the number one reason the whole "Field of Dreams" story was set in motion. When Ray Kinsella was a child, his father (John Kinsella) had high hopes that Ray would become a professional baseball player; he encouraged Ray and they played ball constantly. At the age of 14, Ray read a book by Terence Mann that denounced the 1919 Chicago White Sox baseball team as criminals, and Ray posed that argument to his father (his father believed the White Sox were wrongly accused). Because of Terence Mann's book, Ray and his father had a heated argument that caused Ray to give up baseball, which created a lifelong rift between them that lasted right up to John Kinsella's death. Understandably, Ray always regretted that he never resolved the bad feelings with his father. So, Terence Mann was really the starting point, the No.1 catalyst behind everything in Ray's troubled personal life. The supernatural cornfield events that followed years later were mainly about Ray and his father healing old wounds, the accused members of the Chicago White Sox getting a second chance to play, and Terence Mann losing the bitterness that had filled his writing for decades.
Brilliant.
I'm guessing it's way simpler than that. When Terrence pretends not to see or hear the message about Moonlight Graham, Ray thinks it was a mistake to bring Terrence to the game and suggests they leave. Them having the two seats right next to the aisle makes it easier to show them just get up and walk away, rather than maneuvering through a row of spectators.
Question: At the end of Dead man's chest you see Norrington delivering the heart to Lord Beckett. And you see that Davy Jones opens the little chest just to find out that there's nothing inside. But when Lord Beckett entered the Flying Dutchman (ship of Davy Jones) he had the little chest with him. So how is it possible that they have the little chest with the heart in it?
Answer: By the time of the events of "At World's End" The East India Trading Company has already coerced Jones to aid them. In that time they could have easily got the box from Jones.
Question: What is the title of the song Ellie Carlyle dedicates to Maj. Winchester, calling him "a swell guy - with a head to match"? Winchester's reaction implies the song is some kind of joke in its own right.
Chosen answer: The song is the accordion rendition of "Lady of Spain" by Robert Hargreaves and Stanley J. Damerell. It's Ellie's retort to Winchester's earlier quip in the mess tent, where he said "That's quite a retort from our lady of Spain"
Question: At the end of the movie, what is the name of that haunting song as the workers head towards town?
Answer: The song is called "Yerushalayim Shel Zahav" ("Jerusalem of Gold"). This was a somewhat anachronistic choice for the scene, as the song was written in 1967, twenty-two years after the end of World War II, by Israeli folk artist Naomi Shemer. Question: Schindler first meets Geoth during a breakfast meeting, afterwards they discuss Schindler's request for his own workers. Helen is serving brandy and picking up glasses. Goeth calls Helen 'Lena'. Is this an error or more Goeth's way of mistreating her, ie.: 'I can call you what ever I want'?
Answer: Lena is a nickname for Helena, or Elena, or simply Helen. It's not necessarily derogatory, but does imply Goeth doesn't care if she prefers Helen or Lena.
Question: When Snake and the others run away from the WTC, is the building an accurate representation of the real building(s)? I can find lots of images online of WTC 1& 2, and they appear to have the columns all the way to the ground, where in the movie, the ground level is about 20 feet high with no columns. (01:21:55)
Answer: The original World Trade Centers did't have columns as such. The floors were supported by the outside "skin" to make more useable space inside. The entrance (lobby) to the WTC has an open look from the outside the floor doesn't have to supported because it's the ground floor.
Question: In the scene where the pilots are receiving their initial briefing, the officer in charge is a Lt Colonel, but in a later scene where the alien ship is approaching area 51, he is a captain. Is this the same officer or is this a mistake?
Answer: This is indeed a mistake. The character is played by Bill Smitrovich and is listed as playing Captain Watson, but in the briefing scene he is wearing collar insignia for a Lt. Colonel.
Question: Jerusalem is shown to be completely surrounded by hordes of zombies. Yet it's shown that a few parts are letting people in. Vehicles, buses, many people. How are these people getting in with the sheer mass of zombies at every corner of the wall?
Answer: It isn't shown as completely surrounded by zombies.
Chosen answer: They're coming in through an area completely covered by chain link fence.
Question: After escaping South Korea, Gerry calls his wife. But the call is interrupted with a sudden huge explosion nearby, cutting off the signal. Is this explosion supposed to signify the base they were just at or something, or just a random explosion in the world below?
Answer: The explosion is supposed to be somewhere else as the plane is already underway when he calls. Also, the explosion is not that random as it's a nuclear blast (from accidental explosion or maybe an attack), meaning most likely not the base, as there were no nuclear weapons there, nor any reason to attack it.
Question: Is there any underlying significance to when they show zombie blood gets in Gerry's mouth, but he does not turn into a zombie?
Chosen answer: The significance of showing the blood drop on Gerry's tongue and him spitting it out was to back up the theory that the only way to become a zombie is to be bitten by one. After the blood touched his tongue he ran to the edge of the building and waited 12 seconds (the time it takes to become a zombie) before he stepped off the ledge. If he would have started to change he was going to attempt to jump off the roof before causing harm to his family.
Then how does the scientist at the WHO get infected from a blood sample?
You can't turn by ingesting, or getting the blood on you. It has to enter your bloodstream. The scientist cut his hand and got zombie blood into his bloodstream.
He stuck himself with an infected needle or a "sharps" tool coated with infected fluids, which cut him.
Blood tester is encased in glass. Dr. Testing did not pay attention. His hand was in the case while it was mixing. Glass broke, cut him, testing blood mixed with his.
Question: This question is more for those who have read the book, but I've always wondered that when Edward was taking a personal time from school since he first saw Bella in the classroom, what did he do all that time? Because first he wanted really bad to get out of that class and transferred to something else, but when he came back, he was friendly and had sort of accepted the situation. I always thought he might have been talking to Carlisle about his exceptional powers (or lack of them) regarding to Bella. Could anyone specify?
Chosen answer: He goes to visit the Denali clan in Alaska. He also hunts before he returns to school.
Question: Why is it that Nearly-Headless Nick and some other ghosts can visit the Hogwarts students, but other deceased people - such as Harry's parents - can't?
Answer: Nearly-Headless Nick explains this to Harry in the book, Order of the Phoenix. After Sirius has died, Harry thinks he might come back as a ghost, but Sir Nicholas tells Harry that a person becomes a ghost because they were afraid to move on to the next world after dying and now are trapped on Earth. That is why Sir Nicholas and the other ghosts are at Hogwarts. He tells Harry that Sirius was not a man who feared death and that he has crossed over to the other side.
Question: In the scene right after school lets out towards the end of the movie and the carnival shots begin, there's a guy in white shorts and no shirt who hits the bell with the hammer. The shot is maybe 3 seconds long. Doesn't he look like or may actually be Maxwell Caulfield, who was the lead role in Grease 2? It's not a large enough part to be credited, so the IMDb doesn't list who it is.
Question: How does Bond know Dominic Greene's name? The first I recall hearing it was when Bond rescued Camille from the general's boat. She yells something that sounds like "Greene" (if anyone caught what she said, it would be appreciated) and then Bond automatically says "Dominic Greene?" Also, how can Bond track Greene and his crew with his cellphone? I don't recall him placing a tracker, unlike the one in Casino Royale. Finally, why does the CIA want to capture Bond so bad? It is because he is after Greene and the CIA is "protecting" him?
Answer: When Bond gets into Camille's car, she says "Dominic didn't give you any trouble, did he?" (as she thinks he is one of his henchmen). When he rescues her from the boat, she says "You're not one of Greene's!", and Bond pieces the name together from that. Bond followed them by tracking the cell phone of Greene's henchman, Elvis (remember he called the number on the Universal Exports business card in Haiti). Beams, the CIA section chief in South America had done a deal with Greene (to allow a coup in Bolivia in exchange for oil), and stopping Bond was part of the deal.
Question: During the scene when his family is leaving, why does Robert Neville insist on staying on the island? Wouldn't he have knowledge of a better site or safer lab area since he is of military background? Even when the girl asks him to come to the colony, he insists that ground zero is his site. Is he just staying there because he's familiar with his own lab? Couldn't he have brought equipment with him to the colony?
Answer: Two possibilities. One: Because he IS a military scientist, they may be planning to evacuate him to a different site than the refugees. Two: he may still be working with others in New York to find a cure, but getting his family out while he can is still a priority.
Answer: He is determined to "fix" it. As he is the most qualified to find a cure, he feels it's his responsibility.
Question: Where is it ever stated that the shots of unmasked Jason in part 2 are hallucinations of Ginny's, and that is the reason for the difference in Jason's appearance between part 2 & 3?
Answer: The very ending of part 2 proves this, as Ginny appears again found by the police and ambulances. 1) if Jason really got her she would be dead, not alive, he wrapped around her. 2) Paul was dead, not alive and 3) as far as Jason's appearance she would not be able to stand it at first glance, so in her head she would put more human features on his face to be able to deal with it.
Answer: It is never stated anywhere that she's hallucinating, some say that Ginny surviving is proof but Jason was badly injured, she could have gotten away, this is before Jason became supernatural. The changes in Jason's appearance is simply a continuity error.
