Corrected entry: Grandpa says his dad was able to get a job as a cop when he got to America in 1910 because he had been in the Royal Air Force in WW I. However, WW I did not start until mid 1914. (00:08:00 - 00:09:00)
Question: What is the green and white striped American looking flag in the commissioner's office?
Answer: It's the New York Police Department flag, created in 1919. The stripes represent the 5 boroughs and the stars the different towns that made up New York (including New York City itself).
What about the other flag that is not the U.S. flag?
Please be more specific. Are you talking about the New York City flag?
It is the Iowa State flag. At least in the episode from 1/22/21.
It wouldn't be the Iowa State flag. Plus the Iowa State flag is blue, white, and red. The flag I think they're talking about is blue, white, and orange.
Question: What is the significance of the lapel pin worn by detectives on Blue Bloods?
Answer: It is the lapel pin worn by members of the NYPD Honor Legion.
The lapel pin is on Danny but not Biaz, why? Also, Baker, Sid, Frank &Garrett wear one. Significance? Are they all the same?
Is the P.C.'s pin different than a legion pin? What are the symbols and their meaning?
I think it may be Masonic?
But why would the mayor wear one?
Correction: He's talking about 2 different things. He's said when his father first got here in 1910 no-one liked the Irish. Then his father got a job as a cop because he was a soldier in WWI. There's no mention that his dad was a WWI soldier in 1910.

Henry never said his dad got a job as a cop in 1910, which is the whole premise of your mistake. The correction is valid.
