Question: Why does the young red-headed nun, that doesn't sing very loud (can't remember her name), wear a different habit?

Answer: It is because she is not, technically, a nun yet. She is a novice, one who is in the "trial period" of becoming a nun, but who has not made the final vows to join the order.

Twotall

She doesn't wear a white cap in the second movie either, and she did her vows.

It takes 9-12 years to become a nun, with many stages: discernment, aspirancy, postulancy, novitiate, temporary vows, and finally, solemn vows. The young nun may have moved up a step but would not yet have taken her solemn vows. The various stages would have differences in apparel, headdress, insignia, etc. that showed their rank. In addition, different nun orders wear different styles of habits.

Answer: It appears to be just baked beans, likely without meat or spices. Nuns will often eat a very bland diet, especially a poor order dedicated to contemplation.

Answer: It looked to me like a stew of some sort.

Michael Albert

Folks, the food is visible. It's literally just beans.

Answer: Possibly gruel.

Alan Keddie

As I said above, the food is visible and there is no ambiguity. It's literally just beans.

Corrected entry: The choir begins to sing 'Hail Holy Queen'. When the choir starts clapping, the camera pans to the back and you can see the back of one nun. You can see her hands moving and can notice two things. 1, she is not clapping along with the rhythm and 2, she is not even clapping, but rather making the hand clapping motion without her hands connecting.

Correction: Hardly a mistake that only one nun is out of time. If they were all out yet the clapping was rythmic then that would warrent a mistake, however, if one nun is out of time this wouldnt make a diffence to overall sound due to others clapping and singing, this could be put down to a character mistake.

I've seen this scene and several nuns (not all of the nuns) are seen clapping out of rhythm. Some nuns clap twice while the other nuns clap only once.

Plot hole: In the scene where the limo driver gets shot, Deloris walks in just as the bullet is fired. She doesn't see what happened before, just the guy getting shot. However, when she is telling the police what happens, she tells them that Vince looks at Ernie and says 'Good night.' He did, but she wasn't there at that point.

Suggested correction: The only genuine mistake is that Doloris wouldn't see Vince looking at Ernie or Joey but as the office door is glass, she would be able to hear them talking. Example being when Deloris leaves and is standing outside with the door closed she can hear Vince telling Willy and Joey to bring her back for a talk or, if she runs, to "take care of it".

Except that she never stood outside the door listening to the entire exchange. As soon as she got to Vince's door, she didn't stop to listen to the entire meeting she immediately opened the door, walked in and witnessed the murder and nothing else. Plus, about five seconds after Vince says, "Say, goodnight, Ernie", is when Delores arrives.

To add, the only way for her to witness the entire exchange between Vince and Ernie was if she was standing in the room the entire time which she wasn't.

Corrected entry: In the casino when the nuns are looking for Deloris, Mary Patrick asks some people if they've seen a "Carmelite nun." Judging by the sister's habits, I would guess that they are Dominicans, as Carmelites don't dress in that type of habit.

Lucy Reeves

Correction: While I think it was rather silly for her to bother specifying what kind of nun, I can find pictures of both Carmelite and Dominican nuns on the internet that are dressed like this and of both kinds dressed entirely differently.

Myridon

I figured it was a way of saying that the nun they were looking for was Black - with skin the color of the Carmelite habit.

Correction: I think it's a joke referencing Whoopi Goldberg's skin color. Why else would she specify "Carmelite"??

I had always thought she had said caramel like nun.

Trivia: "Sister Act" is credited as being written by "Joseph Howard." He wasn't a real person. It was a pseudonym Paul Rudnick made up for the film since his script had been re-written so many times by so many different writers that it didn't resemble what he originally wrote. He settled on the name when "R. Chasuble" and "Goofy" were rejected as possible names.

Question: Why did Delores not wear the head cover of the habit in the end when they sing for the pope? Her hair is fully visible and she is wearing loop earrings.

Answer: She was never a real nun and there was no longer a reason for her to be in full disguise as one. She is still close to the other sisters, and therefore is partially clad in a nun's habit, for the concert, but she is also showing her secular side.
