Trivia: To make the water in the glass on the dashboard 'jump', they strung a guitar string from the underside of the dashboard to a bolt on the floor and then plucked the string.

Trivia: Holly Hunter's role is one of the shortest Oscar nominated performances. She only appears on screen for about six minutes total.

Trivia: The portable devo guns Mario & Luigi use to turn Koopa into slime are actually Super Scopes, (used in the Super Nintendo Game "Super Scope"). They're kind of the Super Nintendo version of the Nintendo Zapper from "Duck Hunt" for NES (Nintendo Entertainment System").

Trivia: Henry's sister in the film is really Quinn Culkin, Macaulay Culkin's sister in real-life.

Trivia: When "Richard" starts to limp it wasn't planned, Harrison actually hurt a ligament in his knee shooting a promo for the movie, a promo that wasn't even part of the movie. He refused to receive treatment until filming was finished and ended up needing surgery.

Trivia: The guy who first follows Parrada and Canessa on their expedition to find Chile is nicknamed Tintin. In one of the most famous Tintin albums the cartoon hero goes to the Himalayas to find a friend who is reported dead after a plane crash in the mountains. Most likely a coincidence, but still notable.

Trivia: At the end of the film when Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette are on the beach, the kid playing their son is Patricia's real-life son.

Trivia: When the president goes to a town outside Atlanta, the footage is from President George Bush's visit to Woodstock, GA when he was running against Bill Clinton in 1992. They super-imposed the president from the movie into the shot.

Trivia: The stunt early on in the film where Eric Qualen and his team do the plane to plane transfer was performed by British stuntman Simon Crane. The stunt was performed at an altitude of 2.95 miles (4.75 km) and was the most expensive stunt ever performed costing £568,000(£1 million). Sly Stallone is said to have reduced his fee by that amount to ensure the stunt was made.

Trivia: Porn star Ron Jeremy has a very brief cameo as the security guard who gets shot when they just start to rob the bank.
