The Office (2005)

Lecture Circuit: Part 2 - S5-E15

Corrected entry: In this episode Angela complains about the amount of leave time a woman gets when she has a baby. To which Meredith says 'she's right, I had my second kid just for the vacation'. But through the entire series, before and after this episode, Meredith has only had one child, a son.

Correction: Meredith only has custody of one child, her son, Jake. However, she has a daughter, Wendy. Wendy's father (one of Meredith's ex-husband) has custody of her.

Apocalypto (2006)

Corrected entry: Heads and bodies rolling down a flight of stairs would disperse, causing a triangular stain on the steps. The film has an inverted triangle. I assume the flight of steps is level.

Correction: The triangle is painted on, just like the lines running up the stairs on the edge are painted blue.

Apocalypto (2006)

Corrected entry: When the prisoners are being led through the city, there is a shot of a horse's skull on a vendor's stand. Horses were not native to the Americas, but were introduced by the Spaniards.

Correction: This is a perpetuated myth similar to that of "slaves built the pyramids". The heavy Spanish horse was introduced, but native horses have been in the Americas since 12,000 BC. There have been written accounts of visitors having seen horse and wagons in such places as ancient Mexico (Hui Shen tells of his account in the 5th century). And some native Americans tell of stories of their ancestors having horses before the Spaniards arrival.

God's Not Dead (2014)

Corrected entry: When Josh is talking to Reverend Dave in the church, he tells him there are about 80 students in his class and that he doesn't think any of them would ever step foot in any church, and the fact that no other students refused to write "God is dead" at the beginning of the philosophy class supports this statement. Roughly 70% of America's population is Christian, which would mean, statistically, at least 50 of the students in the class would be of the church-going variety. Although it helps to make Josh's swaying of his fellow students in his favor as it relates to his debate with Professor Radisson more dramatic, the idea that he would be the only Christian in a room of around 80 people at an American university is highly improbable.

Phaneron

Correction: These are not 80 random US citizens. These are individuals who chose to be in the class. A person with strong enough faith in their Christianity may choose not to take his class, or drop the class when they found out who the teacher was. Additionally, it's generally looked at as 70% of households in America, not 70% of every man, woman, child, and infant. As such, parents who claim to be a Christian family may have a child who denies he or she is Christian (many atheist and agnostics were raised in religious homes). However, as Josh states, the students wouldn't set foot in a church, which doesn't exclude them from considering themselves Christians. There are those who believe in Christ and the Bible, but detest organized religions. However, all of that doesn't ultimately matter since it's just Josh's own guess based on the fact everyone wrote "God is Dead" and not based on him having asked each student or having a knowledge of their personal beliefs.

Bishop73

Corrected entry: The morning after the students kidnap Mr. Griffin, his wife goes to the police to report him missing. Later that morning, the police are questioning Susan about his whereabouts. However, the police usually wait about 48 hrs. before declaring anyone over the age of 18 missing and beginning their search for them.

MoonFaery

Correction: This is a movie/TV myth. Police departments do NOT have a waiting period for declaring adults missing, especially when someone is concerned enough to file a missing persons report.

Tomorrowland (2015)

Corrected entry: During the five-minute scene that takes place inside the Blast From The Past movie collectibles shop, the clock on the back wall shows 10:30 and the time never changes.

Correction: If it never changes, then it's possible it's broken and only meant as decor because of the style (or simply ran out of batteries that the two robots didn't care to replace them). Since the clock doesn't change time in an incorrect manner, there is no mistake.

Tomorrowland (2015)

Corrected entry: In one scene Athena is seen driving an older model Chevy Pickup with a bench seat. Although Athena is far shorter than the other 2 characters the seat is all the way back. She shouldn't be able to work the gas or brake from that placement. (01:12:00)

Cliff Corson 0595

Correction: Casey asks specifically how she's driving the truck, meaning as a robot she doesn't need to use the gas and brake to drive.

Bishop73

Correction: They didn't use CPR (there was no chest compressions). Houdini just did mouth to mouth resuscitation, because as he said, he works with water a lot. Artificial respiration to revive people who have apparently drowned has been around since the late 1770's. In fact, by the end of the 19th century, hundreds of depots were set up in the UK (especially near coastal areas) to assist reviving drowning victims. Mouth to mouth is something Houdini would have known about.

Three Amigos (1986)

Corrected entry: Dusty is dressed as one of El Guapo's henchmen. When Ned falls from the rope above and El Guapo's henchmen find out who he and Dusty are, Dusty is no longer dressed as a henchman, but back in his Amigo uniform.

Correction: All Dusty did was put on the henchman's poncho. He still has his Amigo costume underneath. When Ned falls, Dusty is still wearing the poncho. It's not until the German and Ned are about to start the duel that Dusty is no longer wearing the poncho. But plenty of time has passed, enough that the chairs for El Guapo are set up. Everyone is ready for a show and since they know it's Dusty now, there's no point in wearing the poncho.

Three Amigos (1986)

Corrected entry: When the bad guys are beginning their celebration just before the Three Amigos take them on, there is a scene where people are holding a series of ropes attached to a tall pole. About a minute or so later, when the Amigos are climbing onto the wall around the bad guys' compound, you can see all these ropes are suddenly hanging between the pole and the roofs of the surrounding buildings. How did the people get the ropes up there so quickly?

Correction: All the ropes you see that are attached to the roofs are attached to the pole. However, they're attached to a ring around the pole. The ring is set up with a pulley system so that when the men pull the long ropes attached to the top of the pole, it pulls the ring up. This in turns raises all the ropes attached to the roof up (which also has all the decorations attached). You even see the ropes and ring being raised.

City Slickers 2 (1994)

Corrected entry: When Mitch is in the caves he falls into a mining car, and while he is riding a car falls off, but then in a later shot the second car is back.

Correction: The 2nd car never reappears in any later shots. There are times when the car Mitch is in casts a shadow that the submitter possibly thinks is a 2nd car.

Self/less (2015)

Corrected entry: When Mark is waiting for Maddie and Anna while they are talking outside the school, he can see them through the mirror but the angle of the car and mirror are in the wrong position.

ozwal13

Correction: He's parked far enough ahead and to the right of the school and he's looking through his driver's side mirror so he can see to the left of him. There's nothing about the position of his car that wouldn't allow him to see them.

Bishop73

Corrected entry: On the morning the family leaves for Florida, there is a wide-shot of the house. In the next shot, one of the airport vans hits the statue out the front of the house, this statue was not there in the previous shot.

mightymick

Correction: The statue is there the whole time, but in the first wide shot it's blocked by the lamp with the red bow on it. If you look close enough, you'll see the hand of the statue sticking out to the right of the bow.

Bishop73

Corrected entry: In the scene when Kevin bumps into the flight ticket attendant, he loses his ticket in the pile that falls to the ground. But in a later scene, when Harry catches him jumping off the hotel dock, they pull that same plane ticket out of his jacket pocket.

Correction: A similar mistake has already been corrected. He has round trip tickets and therefore 2 different tickets. And you see him holding the actual ticket to Miami (his boarding pass), as opposed to the American Airline envelope sleeve that both tickets were originally in.

Bishop73

Corrected entry: Gaspar never goes all the way into the apartment before going to the Man-Whore awards. He grabs the ticket from Eva and then puts the door knob on the door, yet when he and Deuce are driving to the Man-Whore awards, the Leopard Coat and Blonde wig are in his bag.

Correction: The apartment you're speaking of is Gaspar's apartment. We don't know how much time elapsed when we first see Eva (who asks if he's home). He had plenty of time to get his coat and wig from his own apartment before confronting Eva.

Bishop73

Correction: Following the release of the egg (i.e. fertility), basal body temperature increases by about half a degree in almost all women. Progesterone secreted after ovulation heats the body to prepare for pregnancy.

Bonanza (1959)

Correction: While the superscript 2 is close to the PI symbol, it's merely because of the writing size. The r is closer and meant to be r squared (if we had seen her write or say PI squared, that would be a mistake).

Black Knight (2001)

Corrected entry: When the movie begins and Jamal is brushing his teeth in his home, he is wearing light-blue pants. When Jamal is in 14th century in England, after the first execution in the movie, Jamal takes his jeans off and he is wearing black pants without changing his clothes at all. (00:00:40 - 00:23:40)

Correction: When he pulls down his jeans, those aren't black pants but his underwear.

Bishop73

Corrected entry: At the end Austin and Felicity are standing around in Austin's pad. She turns to Austin talk for a bit, then Fat Bastard comes in. Felicity and Austin retreat up the step and Fat Bastard talks. When he is falling to the ground, Austin and Felicity do the exact same "retreat up the step" thing. When he's finished falling, Felicity turns to Austin again but they've reused the part where she turns to him at the beginning and dubbed over what she says at the end of that shot. It may seem a bit confusing, but it is fairly noticeable.

Correction: While they do go up the steps when Fat Bastard comes in, it's clear they also go down at some point to get closer to him as he's expressing his feelings, and there's plenty of time when off camera to do so. When they go back up the stairs the second time it's not the same footage reused. You can see the tilt in Felicity's head is more prominent the first time. They just probably rehearsed and reshot the scene so much that they end up taking the few steps similar ways both times.

Bishop73

Corrected entry: When Dr. Evil goes in the time machine for the first time, it shows a split screen of him and both portals are set to 1969.

Correction: While the portal says 1999 at first, once the time coordinates are entered, both time portals will read the same date, in this case 1969. Further evidence of this is when Austin Powers goes back 10 mins. When he puts in the time in the "present", the portal reads "10 minutes ago" and when he arrives in the past, the time portal still says "10 minutes ago".
