Suggested correction: He shouts, "Ali" which is short for Allison.

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: The "baby" looked quite "rubbery" at times and its limited movements (even motionless) and lack of sound are indicative of a "fake" baby (doll) most of the time. The baby was mostly kept covered in some kind of box and did not even cry when the mother was running with it (while in her arms or in the box). (00:14:35 - 00:20:30)

KeyZOid

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This is not really a "revealing mistake." Fake babies are used in movies all the time. Due to the complexities of filmmaking, it is simply impractical and impossible to use real infants for most scenes. Child safety and labor laws strictly limits how long a baby can be on set. A fake baby may or may not look "rubbery" but that is what they had to work with.

raywest

Your correction is precisely what makes it a revealing mistake. Explaining why a mistake occurs doesn't invalidate the mistake. You could only argue that it doesn't look fake or a real baby was used, but since that's not the case, the mistake stands.

Bishop73

A "mistake" is an unplanned and/or unwanted circumstance. Obviously using a fake baby was an intentional decision. At best, this should be classified as a "Deliberate Mistake."

raywest

This very website defines "revealing" mistakes as: "Anything which gives away filming techniques, such as stunt wires being visible, or glass smashing before anyone goes through it." (And I could be wrong, but I believe the definition used to be even broader.) An obviously fake baby falls under that umbrella, and always has. You simply can't argue that it's not a revealing mistake by the rules of this site just because it was a deliberate choice by the filmmakers. Heck, even under your strict definition of mistake (which is very problematic, because it doesn't really account for plenty of things that 99.9% of people would commonly consider "movie mistakes"), it's still a mistake, since the filmmakers wanted people to think it's real, and we obviously don't - ergo an unplanned circumstance.

Continuity mistake: When Valerian makes the thug fall through the floor in Big Market it leaves a hole behind, but when he is chased out a few moments later the hole is gone.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The hole is still there. It's just not visible in most of the shots because it's blocked by Valerian or the camera angle is too high. When it cuts to him running out of the doorway, it's again mostly blocked by characters. When it's not blocked, you can see the hole.

Vice Versa (1988)

Continuity mistake: When Charlie (in Marshall's body) goes to the final executive meeting, he dons a pair of glasses with an ear receiver attached by wires to one of the bows. When he removes the eyeglasses prior to leaving the meeting, the earpiece remains in his ear.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: It was established when the salesman was talking about the device that the part attached to the glasses was the antenna and it came with a separate earpiece.

Correction: Alberta wasn't asking for Sam to keep looking for evidence she was murdered, she wanted Sam to keep working on solving her murder. They knew she was murdered, but they didn't know who did it.

Creepshow 2 (1987)

Revealing mistake: When the elder Indian (Native American) with the black hat steps out of the yellow car at the beginning, and says hi to the shop owner, then Hi to the wooden Indian chief. You can see the Indian chief move slightly, indicating it is not a wooden statue, but a real person under the getup. (00:04:52)

Suggested correction: The scene where he moves is intentional. In fact, Old Chief Wood'nhead is played by Dan Kamin, and he moves a lot more later on.

Suggested correction: He does give a shocked look when he see's the statue move its head a bit.

Anchorman (2004)

Continuity mistake: After Ron cleans himself up at the bar, we get a good closeup shot of his face, and there is no colored makeup. When Ron got to the zoo, he went straight into the bear pit to help Veronica. After coming from the bear pit, he goes on camera with blue makeup around his eyes. Did the bears put it on him?

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: I watched the scene a few times and I can't see any blue makeup around Ron's eyes.

Plot hole: At the end of the movie when getting out of the bear pit, the crew decides to use a ladder when a set of stairs can be seen. Was this so Vince Vaughn could give his respect speech?

Anchorman (2004)

Other mistake: In the scene where Ron and Veronica are in the car overlooking San Diego talking about the name, you can see just above Veronica's head, a bug climbing on the camera.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: There's no way what it's seen is a bug on the lens. It's on the windshield of the car. At the start of the scene, you see the bug in front of Ron and it slowly makes its way across the windshield and then up towards the roofline as it gets in front of Veronica.

Anchorman (2004)

Factual error: Although the film is set in the 1970's, when Brian Fantana is on the phone talking with a distraught Ron Burgundy, a Rubik's Cube is seen on the desk. Rubik's Cube was not sold until the early 1980's.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: First of, what it is isn't Rubik's original "Magic Cube" (later called Rubik's Cube). It's a 2x2x2 puzzle that looks like what Larry Nichols invented in 1968 and patent in 1972. The Rubik's Cube is 3x3x3.

Jurassic Park III (2001)

Other mistake: When the Navy picks up the survivors, the person on the radio says that they have 6 souls on board. They only picked up 5 people.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The 5 he picked up and including himself.

This correction really makes no sense. The pilot says "6 souls on board" but there's at least 9 on board. Grant, Paul, Amanda, and Eric, were picked up. Billy was already on board. Then there was the Man in Suit, 2 pilots, and a what appears to be an attending medical officer.

Anchorman (2004)

Corrected entry: In the pool party scene at the beginning of the movie, Ron is seen holding a half-empty drink with nothing else in it. He then looks for Veronica and in the next shot is seen holding a drink with ice, straw, green umbrella and orange slice. The drink remains unchanged for the rest of the time he talks to Veronica. (00:08:50 - 00:11:10)

Correction: The half empty drink Ron is holding is his scotch, which he throws out of his hand before jumping into the pool. The drink in his hand during the rest of the shots is an entirely new drink.

This correction isn't valid because it's not about the drink he throws before doing the cannonball. The scene in question is afterwards and there's not enough time in between shots for Ron to get a different drink than what he's holding.

Still Alice (2014)

Corrected entry: When Alice is making the video with instructions about how to commit suicide, we see her typewritten notes, and she has misspelled "labeled", something a linguistics professor wouldn't do.

MovieFan612

Correction: Both "labeled" and "labelled" are correct spellings of the word. Labeled is chiefly the American spelling whereas labelled is chiefly the British spelling. It should be noted, co-writer Wash Westmoreland is British.

Bishop73

However, Alice has the disease! She was already deep into it when diagnosed. By the time she is making the video she may not have had the ability to proofread.

Alice spoke and wrote American English, regardless of the cowriter.

MovieFan612

Alice was an English (American) linguistics professor. She would have correctly written the American version.

MovieFan612

There is no "correct" American version. Both are acceptable in America.

Bishop73

The "American version" would only be a "preferred" or predominant spelling but, as already pointed out, either spelling is acceptable. [It is still an interesting "catch", perhaps worthy of turning into a "trivia" entry.].

Judge Dredd (1995)

Corrected entry: After all the gunmen in Heavenly Haven are eliminated, Dredd is rambling off to the leader the list of offences and how many years in prison they hold. The last he says is first-degree murder of a judge. This was not first degree murder. No predetermination.

Correction: First off, this is set in the future where the rules for 1st degree murder may be different. Second, one can be convicted of 1st degree murder if the death occurred during the commission of certain violent felonies (felony murder rule) without premeditation being a factor.

Treasure of Nadia

Character mistake: The first time that Diana mentions the mysterious civilization that produced the 'treasure', she mentions that "They survived in isolation until the 1500's." It's a plural, 1500s, no apostrophe.

Sammo

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Both versions are acceptable depending what style guide someone chooses to follow. Anyone saying different is just stating an opinion (well, until all style guides decide to follow one rule). It's similar to plural letters, as in "mind your p's and q's."

Bishop73

Interesting! I looked up a couple "style guides" since you brought it up and I stand corrected as you said; it is recommended but not an absolute unlike what my old grammar book said (I have been corrected on an academic test about this specific rule, I wish I knew that earlier!).

Three's Company (1977)

Cousin Cuisine - S7-E7

Character mistake: When Felipe thinks Jack proposed to his cousin Maria, Felipe is happy and congratulates Jack. Later in the episode though, Maria's fiancé shows up and Felipe is shown as already knowing about him. Why wouldn't Felipe tell Jack that Maria was already engaged instead of showing happiness of Jack's "proposal"?

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: You missed the entire plot of the episode. Maria's fiancé broke off the engagement, so she went to Felipe's. Then, when he thought Jack had proposed, he was happy. But Jack thought he was happy for offering her a job. Jack then begins talking about Maria as an employee (like trying her out in the kitchen and getting someone to train her). But Felipe thought Jack meant those things about Maria being his wife and got mad at Jack. Then told Jack he's not marrying Maria.

A Day to Die (2022)

Trivia: Willis' LAST film that will be released. It was filmed about a year before the 4/04/22 announcement that he was diagnosed with aphasia (a type of frontotemporal dementia that affects the ability to speak, write, and understand written language) and "stepping away from acting."

Still Alice (2014)

Character mistake: At the hospital, Alice's husband says, "Here we are, in a major hospital, and they only have one elevator." In fact, there are two elevators, right beside each other. He actually looks at the other one before making the comment.

Exactly. He says "they only have one elevator running", which is different than saying they only had one elevator.

Stargate SG-1 (1997)

Watergate - S4-E7

Plot hole: The team go through the gate to disable a drone with the intention of being able to close the active Stargate, but once they go through in a submarine, the gate closes behind them, rendering the mission pointless. (00:24:18)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This entry seems to have been made without watching the episode or you skipped a part. When the 3 enter the Stargate via the submarine, the Gate does NOT close behind them. It stays open, which we not only see but is how they can communicate with O'Neill. Then Dr. Markov says once they bring the drone in (to the submarine), they can shut the drone off and the Gate will close. Which is what they do (off-screen) and when they do, the Gate closes.
