Dirty Harry - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: When Dexter listens to Officer Lundy's tape recording, we hear Lundy say that the Trinity killer's weight is 190 to 200 pounds. When we saw him recording that, he said 200 to 220 pounds.

If I Had a Hammer - S4-E6

Factual error: In the newspaper article from the Trinity killers past - the report states that someone called 911 and dispatch gave them instructions. The death occurred in 1959. The first 911 call was made in 1968. (00:39:24)

Hello, Dexter Morgan - S4-E11

Continuity mistake: When Dexter is killing Stan Beaudry, the drop of Beaudry's blood encompasses the width of the blood slide when the two pieces of the slide are pressed together, but then goes to being roughly half the size when the shot changes.

Road Kill - S4-E8

Continuity mistake: Arthur and Dexter make a u-turn to avoid a DNA checkpoint. The view from outside the van shows no oncoming traffic, but the view from inside the van shows several cars waiting for them to complete the u-turn. (00:53:20)

Dirty Harry - S4-E5

Other mistake: When Lundy is shot and falls to the ground, there is no visible injury even though he is facing the camera. Later, Masuka says he was shot twice, once in the chest and once in the neck. The shooter was facing him. We should have seen the blood.

Dirty Harry - S4-E5

Visible crew/equipment: Before Debra is taken away in the ambulance Dexter is physically stopped from getting closer to the scene, and when Batista tells the cop that Dexter is one of them, in the next shot facing Dexter the reflection of the moving overhead boom mic can be seen on the car window. Super Grover

Blinded By the Light - S4-E3

Revealing mistake: When Deb is texting "Looks like it" to Anton, the buttons she presses on the keypad do not correlate with the message itself and the phone doesn't show any auto-correct feature being utilized, indicating that the text message was added in post production.

Blinded By the Light - S4-E3

Other mistake: An extra is walking in the background with a measurement wheel while Debra is talking with Lundy outside of the warehouse. The character is hovering the wheel over the ground and not actually using it for its intended purpose. (00:17:10)

If I Had a Hammer - S4-E6

Character mistake: In this episode, as well as 1-2 others, Dexter holds his slide phone upside down (only in the edits/cuts where he wasn't shown answering the phone). When the phone is slid open, the front cover goes above/higher than the backside of the phone. And a few instances I've seen, the side closest to his face 'lower' than the outside/backside of the slide phone, strongly suggesting the phone was held upside down.

Lost Boys - S4-E10

Other mistake: There's no way Arthur could have known Scott was 10 years old. In fact, it's highly likely he would not have known any of the boys he killed were 10 years old.

The Getaway - S4-E12

Other mistake: The tub Rita was found in was full of water, to the rim. Volume displacement dictates that when Arthur got out of the tub the water level would have dropped to well below the tub's rim.

Dirty Harry - S4-E5

Visible crew/equipment: After the ambulance taking Deb to the hospital drives away, a crew member ducks down in front of a parked car in the background. (04:36:00)

Road Kill - S4-E8

Continuity mistake: When Dexter is packing kill tools for the road he "packs light" and chooses a knife and hammer. However once he's at the hotel room setting up the kill room he unrolls his entire set of tools like he does at all the other murder room scenes.

Those Kinds of Things - S6-E1

[MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" playing.]
Former Classmate: Come on, Dexter. It's hammer time.
Dexter: [internally] I have no idea what hammer time is. Or how it differs from regular time.

About Last Night - S3-E9

Question: Dexter tests the blood on Miguel's shirt, to see if it's Freebo's. It looks like he's just using a DNA sequencer and the blood result comes back "bovine." Can a DNA sequencer differentiate which species the blood came from like that? Or perhaps he was using a different type of blood analysis machine? Is there an analysis machine that's capable of that? I thought the way to test if blood is human or not, "anti-human serum" is mixed with the blood to see if it will clot. So wouldn't the only way to tell it was bovine blood is to inject it with "anti-bovine serum"?

Bishop73

Answer: The short answer is yes, it could. but, it would have to be set up to analyze results to differentiate species. The sequencer will report the base pairs for any properly prepared sample, but interpreting the results is a software package. The software is available, but I would think it unlikely that an analysis package used in a forensics lab would have the capability to be so specific. More likely it would report "Non Human Sequences Found."
