Plot hole: Telling the story of Piccolo's defeat 2,000 years before, Roshi says that the seven mystics "sacrificed their lives to cast the Mafuba." Roshi though is on his own and casts it just fine, with no explanation. Not even 7 monks prepare the container, since there are just 5 in the room.

Continuity mistake: In the temple, while Muten Roshi and Yamcha are by Goku, Bulma and sifu Norris are by Chi Chi. She moves a bit then is unconscious, in the background. Her arms go limp with the palms up. As Roshi inhales. Chi Chi is lying with the palm down. Later in the scene the arm is back on her lap and slipped down the shot that follows. (00:59:55 - 01:01:00)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Bulma and Yamcha are bonding, right at the beginning they go up some stairs. There are some extras that are descending, and are pretty characteristic; one has a blue hat, one a white fisherman hat and a yellow shirt, and the third a white tunic with a peculiar pattern. Yamcha and Bulma talk a bit, and while they do, there's a brief cut to one of the salesmen downstairs. And guess what? Walking down the stairs by him there's the aforementioned trio of extras, walking down that same flight of stairs as before. (00:50:30)

Sammo

Stupidity: The characters wish for the resurrection of just one person (Roshi) rather than everyone killed by Piccolo as would be natural (and as they do in anime and manga). Okay, Piccolo in this movie sucks at killing and resurrecting Muten covers 50% of the total body count, but they can't know that.

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Goku is called back to life with the Kamehameha, he screams. You can see, next to Justin Chatwin's head, master Roshi's knee. Couple shots later, both Chow Yun-Fat and Chatwin let go and drop on the floor, but the knee is still where and as it was in the new close-up. (01:00:00)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Chi Chi after her fight runs to hug Goku. Right by him there's a guy in a brown gi; he's so close that in the shots from behind Justin Chatwin you can still see that ugly gi in frame. All of a sudden though, once Goku asks "What's this?" referring to Chi Chi's scratch caused by Mai, Brown Gi Guy, so conspicuous earlier in his standing, is now sitting, out of the way. He is up and seen in the act of sitting at the next shot from behind. (00:50:10)

Sammo

Other mistake: Once Goku has punched Mai in the face, his friend joins him and there's a shot of the monster corpses in the lava shifting and being swallowed by the incandescent substance. In the green screen background conversation with Muten though, the corpses are still there, completely unmoving - not that it made any sense to begin with that they'd stay put, indestructible, forever. (00:46:35)

Sammo

Stupidity: Goku defeats the henchwoman of Piccolo in the lava pit quite easily; she looks human. He is quite content to just push her off-camera with a smack, and nobody cares about trying to talk to her, figure out Piccolo's location and plan, or anything like that. Everyone just forgets about her, and it turns out she even eavesdrops on the lot before leaving. Someone would so casual about meeting and defeating the mysterious enemy only in a movie where you know the script already. (00:46:40)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: After creating a videogame-like bridge in the lava pushing enemies in it, Goku jumps on the parapet. There's an obvious inconsistency here; in the first shot when he puts his hands on the edge, Bulma and especially Yamcha are nowhere near ready. In the following shot Goku has yet to pop the head past the edge but Yamcha and Bulma are leaning against it comfortably already. (00:45:25)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Searching for the ball in the lava pit, Bulma holds the radar in a close-up with both hands, the left one has a finger pointed underneath the fingers of the right. In the previous and following shot she 's running the index in front of them. (00:43:40)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Yamcha falls on his butt once Muten hops up from the pit and faces him. He holds on to the car's fender and pulls himself up in the reverse shot, when Chow Yun-Fat says "Send down a net." Cut to Goku and then he's again down and holding on to the fender. (00:41:10)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Bulma asks the others to let her handle the talk with the handsome stranger at the top of the hole. When she says "I'd be uh, so grateful..." you can see the backpack Roshi was salvaging, perfectly propped against the bike. But in the previous shot it was just lying around on the ground. Inconsistencies between different angles keep repeating during the whole bit. (00:38:35)

Sammo

Factual error: The Dragonball gang falls into Yamcha's trap. The bike nosedives into the hole, with Bulma driving (Muten and Goku should by every mean have been able then to jump to safety, but let's forget about that a moment). Goku and Muten somehow land first, and Bulma comes down last after a couple seconds, screaming. Not really making sense from a physical standpoint. (00:38:05)

Dragonball Evolution mistake picture

Continuity mistake: Bulma and her passengers are driving through a fairly horrid-looking green screen. They are proceeding along a street coasted with a fence. She takes a sharp left turn, Goku loses his balance, but the view shown has the fence already at distance. (00:37:55)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: At the very crowded secret training spot, Chi Chi and Goku are interrupted in their chat by Muten yelling his name. The trainees are turned facing away from the camera and some guy with a jumpsuit similar to Goku's in the anime is kinda wandering by Muten. Cut to Goku and Chi Chi, the wandering guy vanished and all the students are shadow punching towards them, and they'll stay that way for the rest of the scene. (00:36:50)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Chi Chi asks Goku to take a walk with her. They do, and end up standing in a gorge; depending on the angle of the take, Chi Chi's hair is windblown or not. Especially obviously at the beginning when a big wisp of hair gets blown across her face as she says "Before you suddenly took off", and then everything is completely quiet with no wild hair in the close-up that follows. It keeps happening. (00:36:20)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: While Chi Chi is sparring with the guy who hits her with not much fair play, some guy is doing kung fu forms on a tall pillar. Chi Chi disposes of the opponent, jumps off to greet Goku, and the guy suddenly vanishes from that peak. (00:36:10)

Sammo

Plot hole: Muten sees Goku perform the technique his Grandpa used, and says "Shadow Crane Strike. I'd recognize that anywhere. How's Gohan?" A few scenes later he goes "Shadow Crane strike is the most basic of all the air-bending techniques." Which is it, Gohan's technique or a generic level 1 airbending spell? (00:30:55 - 00:34:50)

Sammo

Plot hole: During the lesson at school, Goku learned that the eclipse is due to occur "in two weeks' time." The same night he goes to Chi Chi's party and Grandpa gets killed. The day after, he departs with Bulma for Paozu, which is pretty close to where he is (they go by motorbike). But in Paozu, Muten tells them that they have "seven days." (00:10:25 - 00:33:00)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Muten starts doing his silly posing saying his name, Emmy Rossum has in a close-up her wisp of hair comically looped across one eye. When she was seen earlier as the posing started, the hair was okay; it was messed up when she was getting up earlier. (00:30:36)
