Question: How did the big, black vampire die? I know that he melted after Harvey Keitel ran him through with the shotgun, but I didn't see anything used that would actually "kill" a vampire. There was no holy water, crosses, etc. used on him.
Answer: Well Keitel turned the shotgun into a cross. So he touched the cross and melted.
Revealing mistake: When George Clooney is talking to Juliette Lewis towards the end of the film, it is painfully obvious that his tattoo has been smudged. (01:40:35)

Answer: Because he is a sadistic lunatic and he wanted to. He has a lot wrong with his brain, paranoia, psychopathy, hallucinations, sexual predation. Probably more. He is a deeply disturbed individual and killing Gloria gave him pleasure.
