Mr. Monk and the Miracle - S7-E9

Corrected entry: The pharmacist's plan is really stupid. He changes all their meds so they don't work, after drinking from the fountain he changed them back so it appears the fountain healed them. The problem is if they think the fountain healed them they're not going to take their meds, so their pain would come back.

Correction: He didn't just change their medication so it didn't work, he changed it so they actually got sicker or worse. Even if they stopped taking their real medication, they'd still feel better than before when they were worse off and still think it was the fountain. But since he wasn't trying to scam anyone out of any money, he didn't need a long term solution for when their pain came back. Just enough to stop the monastery from digging up the fountain.

Bishop73

Correction: Just because something isn't explained doesn't make it a plot hole. But his wife said Patrick took a $10M life insurance policy out on her, so that's one reason.

Mr. Monk Is Underwater - S7-E5

Corrected entry: The skipper of the submarine announces himself as Captain Whitaker just before kicking in the door during the opening segment. The actual rank on his shoulder boards are of a Commander. A Captain would have 4 stripes on his shoulder boards not 3 (commander).

Correction: He is introducing himself as the captain of the ship, not his rank. In the US Navy, all ship commanders are called "Captain" regardless of their rank. So even though he's a Commander, he can still be referred to as "Captain"

Correction: There are prisons that house both men and women. For example, Folsom State Prison in California currently hoses both male and female.

Well then they should have Saturday night dances. It'd hopefully discourage escapes by giving them interaction, conjugal visits, should they have nobody on the outside.

Rob245

Correction: His favorite brand changed to Summit Creek in season 6. It was stated in Mr. Monk's biggest fan by Marcy Maven.

Correction: While it's the same actor, he's playing a different character. In this episode he's Detective Burns, not Terry Chasen.

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Corrected entry: In the scene where Monk, Natalie, Stottlemeyer and Disher open Cassie Drake's front door and find her body, notice that Disher pulls the front door outwards. Most front doors open inwards.

Correction: Not all front doors open in. Ours doesn't.

Mr. Monk and the End - Part I - S8-E15

Continuity mistake: In 3-7 "Employee of the Month", Joe Christie says he was with Monk when he got the news of Trudy's death. He said Monk had been laughing, and that he never heard him laugh again. In this episode Monk and Stottlemeyer get called to the scene of a crime, a women's clinic. In this episode there is a flashback to the exact same location years earlier and to Stottlemeyer getting the phone call about Trudy's death. He and Monk were working a case that day and Joe Christie was not present.

Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico - S2-E2

Trivia: According to co-producer Tom Scharpling, the Mexican homicide cops are purposely written as parodies of Stottlemeyer and Disher, right down to their attitudes, their ranks, their suits, and Captain Alameda's mustache. Even the bumbling lieutenant's name is a little joke on Disher. Plato means "dish" in Spanish.

Show generally

Question: If Monk is afraid of germs, then why does he keep touching things that could possibly have germs on them like parking meters or books?

Answer: Notice also that in the opening credits scene when he is touching parking meters her also wipes his hand on his clothes each time he does it.

Answer: That's the thing about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It's not something rational. He just has to touch things like that. It's not something he can rationally think through. However, since part of his disorder includes an obsession with cleanliness, he also has an assistant walk around handing him wipes periodically. It's like when he gets a cold and uses both a humidifier (because that's what you use when you're congested) and a dehumidifier (to counteract the effects of the humidifier). He may spout rationalizations after he does something, but his compulsions exist outside of any rational thought whatever.
