Factual error: While Monk and Natalie are waiting for the mayor to exit City Hall with his aide, you can see a cable car turning around the corner behind them. San Francisco City Hall is located on Van Ness Avenue between Grove and McAllister Streets, and this is at least six blocks from the nearest cable car line (which would be the turntable at Powell and Market Streets). Factual error: The newspaper with the front page headline about Jimmy Cusack's death comes out the same morning that he is found dead. In reality, since it's said later that the cleaning crew found his body around 7:00 AM, it would be way too late for his death to have appeared in that same morning's edition of the San Francisco Chronicle. It would more likely appear in the next day's paper, by which time Monk had found out that Cusack had been murdered. (00:05:05)

Continuity mistake: When Captain Stottlemeyer's car stops, he pulls to the side of the road into a cluster of garbage bags, which are lining the entire road. When Natalie approaches the car, there are only a few bags on the curb next to it and the rest of the street is clean. (00:33:00)

Factual error: They said the murder occurred on Monday, April 5th (2006). But that was a Wednesday.
Answer: Stottlemeyer was already upset after the phone call. He was trying to get "Kevin" (who would have to be a judge, but no further character information is given) to issue a restraining order with no evidence of needing one, except that Adrian Monk said she needs one. Kevin said he would need to "sleep on it." So it's clear they've been trying to provide protection and unable to get the results they need, which seems to be based on no one trusting Monk the way Stottlemeyer does. He's just angry that they failed to protect Linda despite all their work. Although it does feel like a scene was cut, or altered, from the show that shows the futile attempts to protect Linda which built up to his outrage.
