Kyaputen Tsubasa (1983)

Season 1 generally

Character mistake: For being such a football fan, Tsubasa surely keeps poor care of his gear, since he goes everywhere wearing football boots, and the studs are certainly not suited for 24/7 usage on asphalt. Even worse for Genzo, who for no reason walks around the city in his full goalkeeper uniform and boots. He's a professional with a private coach who is very strict. Besides...who would keep goalkeeper gloves off the pitch all the time?

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

Character mistake: Diana losing the race is presented by the movie as some sort of a judgement call from her aunt who tackles her as she is about to finish, to punish her for cheating taking a shortcut. "But I would have won!" she cries, and her aunt explains to her that it would have not been right. Simply put...No! That's not the case; the movie itself shows that Diana missed a checkpoint, which are recorded and represented visually in the main stadium by flags being unrolled each time one is reached. She did not take a shortcut, she went through the wrong path. (00:08:05)

Where Is the Rival? - S1-E5

Character mistake: Tsubasa takes part in the 200m dash because, as Ryo says "the runner of our team got injured." The runner? There are many athletes taking part in the contest, but both come from just 2 teams. Also needless to say, the race would have also been invalidated, and yet Tsubasa who showed up with no permission and kicking a ball is proclaimed the winner. (00:07:25)

The Football Is My Best Friend - S1-E4

Character mistake: Everyone is making a sincere effort to avoid touching the ball with their hands for the whole episode, even to the point of getting in late at school, but when the kids are waiting in line behind Ryo peeping into the classroom, a few of them have their hands on the ball. Chapter 9: The Marshal - S2-E1

Character mistake: Cobb Vanth says that he's never seen anything but the dragon's head and had no idea about the size of the dragon...but at the beginning of the episode we could see the beast pass through town (conveniently right in the main road without damaging anything else) and its enormous lengthy body was perfectly noticeable. Chapter 6: The Prisoner - S1-E6

Character mistake: Bill Burke's chest holsters are completely not practical and unfit for the kind of guns he's carrying. Just look at the scene when he's leaning towards the Child to grab him, and watch how awkwardly his arm bends. (00:12:30)

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

Character mistake: Barbara mentions that Kush went extinct in 4 AD. Maybe the fourth century? In 4 AD the civilization was still alive and well, and the collapse happened around the 4th century. (01:27:45)

Suggested correction: Barbara didn't say it went extinct in 4 AD. She says the stone appeared in Kush in 4 AD.

Bishop73

Ah so the movie did not get a date wrong, it wanted to imply that the stone chilled out for a few centuries there without doing any damage whatsoever and is not so dangerous after all.

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

Character mistake: When Barbara gives the hilarious back story of the wishing stone, she mentions that "Romulus, the last emperor of Rome, he had it on him when he was assassinated in 476." That's an amazing historical find in itself, because Romulus Augustulus (just "Romulus" is not really correct) was never assassinated; he had to abdicate the title in that year, but then lived the rest of his life in exile. It's worth noting that the novelization of the movie talks about Romulus, Rome's FIRST ruler, and his 'mysterious disappearance'. (01:27:45)

Suggested correction: Not a mistake in the movie for Barbara to give inaccurate information on history, since she is rushing through all of it without fact checking everything. He focus is the stone, not what happened to Romulus.

I don't see what's wrong with saying it's a character mistake, really. By that logic, any bit of historical context provided in a movie could be incorrectly stated as long as it comes from someone who is in a rush. I find more interesting to report when something said in a movie for a serious purpose is wrong and not challenged.

Sammo

She's not an educated historian, OK for her to be mistaken. If she however says wrongful things about something she is supposed to be an expert in, that's a character mistake.

lionhead

It's not OK for her to be mistaken because when you specifically research for something (she has super-fast reading powers now and her task was to do some complex history research, it was not a random mistake playing Trivial Pursuit) there's no way to get that piece of information wrong; she is tracing the path the stone took, the fate of its last known owner is important. That being said, I don't particularly care about her status as expert (which she is, having done a specific research as said); dramatically speaking it's the bit of historical context the movie provides, it should not have mistakes in it when they do not have a payoff.

Sammo

I agree with Sammo. It's a character mistake.

Character mistake: Greeting Steve in his gardens, the Emir says "Your fortune the last few days has been impressive to say the least." It literally happened overnight, not 'days'. (01:16:50)

Character mistake: In the "Athena in Wonderland" quest, Episode 2 "Beautiful Cat Fighter?!", Kensou warns Cotton Tail Yuri about "That beautiful clothes" that she is wearing. Should be those, not that.

Character mistake: Jason's dad comes out of the car and uses consistently for the first part of the movie his crutch supporting the side where he has the cast. Walking on just one crutch, you have to support the uninjured side. (00:08:55)

Character mistake: In the opening scene with the mobsters threatening and then beating up Mr. Stillwell, the American flag in his dojo is hanged backwards, with the blue Union on the right. (00:04:20)

Character mistake: Pretending to be a witch, April says that the song the walkman played was obtained because "I shrunk four incredibly cool guys and I locked them in there." The Barrio Boyzz were five at the song's release. Did she let one Barrio boy go? Was one of the Barrio Boyzz uncool? (00:16:40)

Character mistake: When the camera pans to the frame containing the picture of Lars with his departed mother, the caption says "In memory of our beloved mother Mirra Gunnarsdottir", with a plain O. On the cross, her name is Mirra Gunnarsdóttir. It's two different letters, and it'd be pretty strange to honor the memory of your mother printing a photo with her name in the wrong form. (00:01:10)
