Mackenna's Gold

Mackenna's Gold (1969)

1 corrected entry

(5 votes)

Corrected entry: In the morning scene where the shadow moves to point the way to the opening of the canyon; it is moving away from the rock that makes the shadow. It should be getting shorter not longer.

Correction: Actually, the morning sun reflected off of the quartz deposit would cause the shadow to get longer as time progresses. I tried it. The writers are correct.

Continuity mistake: In the scene at The Yellow River where the Indians are chasing Gregory Peck and the gang of Omar Sharif on their way to the draft, you can see the same sequence with some trees (filmed with the camera holding up) twice within a second. (01:26:15)

Question: Did Omar Shariff make it out of the collapsing rock canyon alive? I missed the ending.

Answer: Colorado and MacKenna both make it out of the canyon alive and then go their separate ways. The gold was buried in the collapse, but McKenna is seen riding off on Sgt. Tibbs horse. The saddle bag is stuffed with gold nuggets.
