Continuity mistake: Daryn starts running/jogging in summer foliage. Autumn foliage is shown in an aerial view, then it switches back to summer and Daryn is running on the street. When Daryn says "bye" to Ms. Murdoch, there is spring foliage behind him but summer foliage behind him when the camera shifts. It is one timed-running session and he is wearing the same clothes. Continuity mistake: The first time we see the girl the main character fawns on, people on the background keep changing between shots during the beach volley game. (00:08:20)
Revealing mistake: Initially, the gallon plastic water bottle Joey was bringing to Hamby looked almost full. However, the ease at which he raised it into the air (by his head), "hollow" sound made when Matt took it from him, and the way it tilted to the side when being dropped down the hole are indications that the water (and its weight) had been removed for most of the scene. When Joey dropped a plastic bag containing a bologna sandwich, chips, and a soda pop down the hole, it went straight down without tilting.
Continuity mistake: The protagonist receives her gift from Molly Shannon. She unwraps it and puts the discarded wrapping on the counter. When we see it again at the end of the scene, the wrapping is much less torn apart than the first time around (or at least has been arranged neatly). (00:09:45)
Continuity mistake: When they lock Tommy in the port-a-potty, they put a sign on the door. The sign is crooked when he keys go off it. In the next cut, the sign is straight. (00:12:30)
Factual error: After sleeping in and being late for practice, Jack is driving to the gym. It is supposed to be morning yet the shadows made by the sun show the sun is setting over the ocean and therefore evening.
Continuity mistake: In the first shot of the choir (three students harmonizing on a note) the girl in pink holds the sheet with her left hand at the corner and the right hand in the middle. Cut to the wide shot, and she has the left hand in the middle and the right hand at its respective corner. (00:03:50)
Continuity mistake: Within a scene, Xanthe's disheveled hair often has a different number of curls/waves (especially on the sides) and the tightness/ looseness varies. Sometimes some strands of curls look like loops sticking out sideways; sometimes her hair looks almost straight on one side. The nature of the curls may vary with front and back views at times. In one scene, she had about three loose waves on the left side of her hair then suddenly it looked almost braided (many waves). (00:07:21 - 00:07:51)
Continuity mistake: When the goat is in the back seat, its position changes with camera views a few times. For example, it was facing towards the passenger side, then its head was between the front seats. Also, it looks more like a mechanical goat more often than not. (00:55:57 - 00:56:26)
Continuity mistake: James lit the cigarette he gave Amanda, and she was shown taking one puff. Amanda tells part of the Empty Man story and the ashes on the tip of her cigarette are the same when she takes a second puff. After continuing the story for about two minutes, the length of the ashes still have not increased when Amanda is about to take the third puff. (00:37:21 - 00:39:53)
Continuity mistake: Theodore rides once the tiny rollercoaster; the cart comes to a full stop and his left foot is in the space between the bars, but in the next shot the left foot is on the outside. (00:48:00)
Continuity mistake: Theo lays Susanna's phone down - when it cuts back to her phone is lying in the opposite direction.
Continuity mistake: The kids are in the car with their dad, and despite the best efforts from the youngest, they are reached by his teacher. As the dad starts the "You were killing us" joke, his hand is on/off the steering wheel between shots more than once. (00:07:15)
Continuity mistake: After the scavenger hunt goes live, Jennifer follows it with her grandmother Sue and Aidan does so with his niece Emma. Aidan looks at the photos of participants and sees one of Jennifer and Sue at the art class, and right below is one of him holding Emma with the carollers in the background. Immediately after that, he picks up Emma in front of the carollers and takes the photo he had already been looking at.
Revealing mistake: The Uber car's instrument panel did not appear to be functional (indicating it was fake). On the driver's side, the numbers in the two large circles were not discernable, but one had to be the speedometer. On the left side, the arrow pointed to maybe 6 MPH, even when the posted speed limit was 60 MPH. The gauge on the right side stayed at the bottom of the left side at zero. (00:09:50 - 00:13:05)
Continuity mistake: Maggie was holding two bottles (clear containing a green liquid) in her right hand and set them on the table together with one at an angle behind the other. She moved her hand away and when the camera shifted to a wide view, the bottles were side-by-side (horizontal to the screen) with more space between them. Also, both bottles were almost full, but had less in them when Maggie handed one to Grace at the airport. (Maggie may have had a sip out of hers, but not Grace's; both looked unopened). Visible crew/equipment: Sara is at the front door video intercom. As the man from the Department of Sanitation is leaving, you can see crew/equipment visible in the reflection. (00:27:15)
Continuity mistake: Isaac is wearing tan or khaki pants but the video of him getting "beamed up" to the spaceship shows dark blue pants. (00:18:15)
Other mistake: The scraping sound is not coming from the man "scraping" his windshield. The snow is easily brushed off and there is no icy coating below the "fluffy" snow to realistically produce the sound of scraping ice off a windshield. (00:00:35)
Revealing mistake: Near the beginning of the movie, there does not appear to be a curtain (or window) on the left side of the screen (e.g, when Samantha is sitting on the couch), but there is near the end when Chloe enters the now-empty room.
