Continuity mistake: AJ is at the computer playing with the camgirl. Antonio Pope walks towards him. You can tell by his movements that the glass of wine is supposed to switch hands right before the cut on Ken Jeong saying "looking good!" even when it's not acknowledged in the next shot, but the impression becomes certainty a few cuts later as they talk by the laptop. When the camera is on the Korean-American actor, the glass is always in Benjamin Bratt's right hand, but it is in his left all of a sudden cutting to him a couple times. (00:01:25)
Continuity mistake: Opening credits. Ice Cube's on a mission and is looking at Troy. He's talking through the radio; during the cut the scantily clad lady next to him changes position. In the wider angle she was laughing and lifting the paper cup, in the close-up she's got her RBF on and has yet to lift the cup. A similar inconsistency occurs minutes later when they get out of the car and walk towards him; the girls are in different poses and the blonde on the right side of the screen is suddenly drinking. (00:04:00 - 00:05:10)
Continuity mistake: Kevin Hart arrives in a lowrider leaving everyone positively puzzled. In the background as he dismounts, notice the couple roughly at windshield level. Between shots her hand moves from his right shoulder (arm draped behind the neck) to the front of her own. (00:06:45)
Continuity mistake: James manages to jump aboard Troy's lime green SUV. The windshield has just 2 bullet holes, located very close together where the driver seat is. There's a close-up of the gun when Troy reaches for it; in the shot that follows, the windshield has a already a third hold in the middle that is supposed to occur only later, when during the struggle the gun goes off. (00:08:30)
Continuity mistake: During the opening credits, Kevin Hart gets in the SUV's way trying to stop it flashing his badge. The badge is in his right hand in the executive producers freeze-frame, but in the POV that follows he's holding in his left, and then again in the right hand at the cut. (00:09:00)
Continuity mistake: After the SUV crash lands upside down flying off the parking, James fishes Troy out of it. He is pointing his finger at him angrily, but it's the index of his left hand first, right hand in the follow-up shot. (00:10:00)
Continuity mistake: Throughout the corridor walk at the police station when James talks to his boss there are innumerable continuity errors. Just look at the people behind Lt. Brooks and James Payton. People appear, disappear, reappear between cuts several times. (00:11:40)
Continuity mistake: After the pixel Grandma blew his brains off, Ben peeks at his wife-to-be and Cori making arrangements. He peeks from the corner, head tilted, straightens and comes forward two times in two separate shots. (00:15:00)
Continuity mistake: When Ben is hit in the head by the ceiling fan, look when he crashes into the shelves. There are three frames on the floor leaning against the wall and he goes head first in one, but in the close-up of Kevin Hart there are at least four and his cranium does not connect with any of them. (00:17:00)
Continuity mistake: James drops by his sis' place and tells Ben they're going to Miami. Kevin Hart says incredulous "Miami, James? I'm going?" In the background Tika Sumpter suddenly has her hands together under her chin, while her arms are crossed in all the other shots of the scene. (00:20:35)
Continuity mistake: Pronouncing the line "Don't mix our thongs together again, please", Angela is waving her right hand around, stopping and lowering it off-frame before the end of the sentence. James has heard enough of that and turns around putting his shades on. At the cut, Tika Sumpter is holding her hand up. (00:22:20)
Continuity mistake: In the aerial opening shot of the Miami precinct as James and Ben enter it, the position of the extras who walk towards them is not in continuity with what comes after. (00:23:55)
Continuity mistake: James is talking to Captain Hernandez while Ben rages on Pinterest. Hearing the laughter, James looks towards it. Right side of the frame, and a man in a pink shirt is sitting down at his desk. Cut, and he's still standing. (00:24:35)
Continuity mistake: When Olivia Munn is doing the weird nerve pinch thing to Kevin Hart for sitting at her desk, there's no consistency in the extras standing around the precinct. (00:25:05)
Continuity mistake: Detective Maya Cruz offers to shake hands with Ben Barber after the soft tissue manipulation, and he bitchily slaps her hand away. The hair rests on Olivia Munn's shoulder differently between shots. And when Ice Cube goes past her, she is facing literally the opposite way between shots. (00:25:45)
Continuity mistake: The protagonists are talking in the car after the first contact with the Miami police. In close-up Ice Cube is holding his phone with the message from "Smurf" in his right hand. He's using that hand to drive in a rapid switch between shots a moment later. (00:27:40)
Continuity mistake: When Ben hops up and puts his hands on the top of the wood boards peeking at AJ sneaking away from the backdoor, Kevin Hart's hands are on different boards/in a different position every time. (00:28:30)
Continuity mistake: In the foot chase, Ben falls on his butt frightened by a big dog on a leash, is up on his feet in the background when AJ topples the table by the pool, has yet to get up in the shot that follows. (00:30:20)
Continuity mistake: The brothers in law have just captured AJ after the foot chase. AJ is trying to make Jason mad. Ken Jeong's hair is not consistent between shots; look for instance when he leans in saying "The sex part. Think about it." He had messy hair across his forehead a moment before, now it's all gone. (00:33:00)
Continuity mistake: When AJ irritates James chirping "Me so horny" in his ear, the car comes to a full stop and AJ bumps his head. At least in theory, since it appears it's more a camerawork effect than the car actually coming to a screeching halt. In the close-up within the car, Ice Cube is also holding the wheel firmly with both hands up, in the 10 and 2 position. But in the wider angles the person in the driver seat is holding the wheel more casually than that. (00:33:55)
